Long considered one of the big four 3D fighting game franchises, Soul Calibur hasn’t really had much of a presence as of late. Its most recent release, Lost Swords, was a single player free-to-play game. Meanwhile, its last competitive outing, Soul Calibur V, came out over almost four years ago back in 2012.

However, with this year being Soul Calibur’s 20th anniversary, it seems that Bandai Namco Games may have something up its sleeves for the series. The company recently released a teaser image on the official Soul Calibur twitter, showing the familiar silhouette of what seems to be fan-favorite character Ivy, along with the words “Guess Who.”

The timing of this tweet is quite interesting, as Gamescom is taking place this week and Bandai Namco Games will be in attendance. Additionally, reports have stated that the company is set to show a “new IP” alongside Tekken 7: Fated Retribution and DragonBall Xenoverse 2 at the event. Could Soul Calibur 6 be announced at the event? Stay locked on to Shoryuken.com for more as this story develops.

D3v has worn many hats within the general fighting game community. The self proclaimed "Asian white boy" from the Philippines has done everything from arcade stick modification to match commentary. When not writing for Shoryuken's front page, D3v spends part of his time running tournaments in the Philippines, including the country's biggest fighting game event, Manila Cup.
