During their panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 this morning, Capcom revealed that Ken will be playable in Street Fighter V.
This veteran joins fellow world warriors Ryu and Chun-Li in bolstering the requisite number of classic cast members, and apparently sports a slick new ponytail. His official reveal trailer has been included below along with a gallery of brand new images; be sure to keep your eyes peeled at the end of the video for a quick glimpse of another character that some believe to be Akuma.
According to a report from Polygon, Ken will eschew from classic shoto mechanics. Though he still retains his shoryuken, this version of the returning fighter will come equipped with Heat Rush, a V-Trigger move that adds fiery damage to his specials, and Quick Step, a V-Skill that gives him the ability to run at opponents, further accentuating his rushdown playstlye.
Expect more details and possibly even gameplay footage in the near future, as attendees will be able to try Ken out immediately on the show floor.
In other Street Fighter V news, Capcom also revealed that there will be three beta phases in total, but weren’t ready to announce dates for the next two.
Street Fighter V is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and PC, with a launch scheduled for sometime in spring 2016.
