Earlier this year, Calvin Theobald and Jordan Levinson of Psycho Crusher Productions, also known as the folks behind the documentary King of Chinatown, announced they were working on a new series titled Gam3r that was set to follow competitive gamers and shed some light on their lives. They also announced that the first episode would showcase the work of Alex Jebailey, the organizer behind Community Effort Orlando in Florida. Little information has been divulged between then and now, but a recent announcement from Jebailey himself has revealed the awfully appropriate venue for the new project’s first screening.

That’s right, those of you planning on attending CEO 2012 will be able to catch the first episode during its exclusive premiere at this year’s event. CEO 2012 runs from June 15th – 17th, and is also a pit stop on the Road to EVO 2012, meaning bigger rewards for top finishers and a whole mess of those precious EVO seeding points. Be sure to register now and secure your spot in what’s sure to be another fantastic event.

Zeohawk’s latest Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 video is…a little different. Changing things up from the usual training session and combo spotlights, he’s created a unique music video using a variety of gameplay footage. I don’t want to spoil the song, but know that it comes from a very popular 90s series and is pretty fantastic in its own right. See if you can place the tune as you watch it accompanied by some slick choreography and editing.

Arturo Sanchez recently sent us the archived footage and final results from round two of the King of GGPO Spring Edition Super Turbo tournament. As with first round of this season’s event, a ton of great ST players came together to secure their spot in the intense three-way round robin finals later this month, so definitely check this out if you’re in the mood for some high-level and decidedly old-school action. This week featured commentary from Cigar Bob, so be ready for some NSFW language.

If you’re interested in what the future holds for this tournament or want to register for upcoming rounds, keep your eyes on the newly revamped Super Turbo Revival for more news.

Emper0r C0w recently took it upon himself to put together a few tutorials for Dead or Alive 5 using the Alpha Demo that’s currently making its rounds. The series is extensive, covering everything from the basics, like offense and defense, to the more advanced concepts of high-damaging combos and using the environment to your advantage. This should be incredibly helpful for those of you looking to try the series with this new installment, as well as intermediate players who may need a refresher course.

In addition to the tutorials, Emper0r C0w also secured four demo codes in order to run a giveaway through the hub video. If you’d like to try your hand at winning one, just head on over to the video’s page and check out the requirements. This main video includes links to all the subsequent chapters, but we’ve also included the other videos for those of you unable to access the annotations.

Izuna over at Ibuki Player Guide recently posted footage of a first to five set he played against WW.MCZ|F-Word. Naturally, both players stuck with Ibuki, which gives us an interesting look at the ins and outs of the mirror match from two very strong players. We’ve included a few spoilers below the video that include the results of this match as well as other sets they played around the same time, so be wary if you want to view the video with no prior knowledge of its outcome.

While this set ends heavily in Izuna’s favor (5-1), the two competitors played a wide variety of matches against each other, including a six match set that went to Izuna (5-1), a first to ten taken by F-Word (10-9), and an eight match set where F-Word scored six wins in a row (6-2). The final score for their total matches ended 21-18 in favor of Izuna.

At this point, one would think Desk would have his work cut out for him trying to impress those who have been watching his videos over the years, due to the outrageous content he pushes out on a regular basis. But his latest combo video definitely takes the cake. Using only one hand, Desk put together a mini-compilation of combos that incorporate a large number of EWGFs with Kazuya, including one that is able to string together five in one combo. He also manages to incorporate Julia into a couple interesting segments among the electric shenanigans.

ShinJN from Level|Up recently reviewed the new Fighting Edge arcade stick by Hori. As you may remember, this arcade stick was unveiled on Wednesday Night Fights a few weeks ago. It looks like Hori made some remarkable innovations with the Fighting Edge, especially when it comes to the button configuration mode. The review is quite in-depth and provides details you might not find anywhere else, so definitely check it out.

Here is an excerpt to get you started:

Hayabusa Joystick: In the past, HORI has been known to use their own branded parts in their economy line of sticks. Stick enthusiasts have always criticised the weak performance of HORI’s stock parts. It may be time to shove those criticisms aside.

After years of research and development, HORI has finally released a joystick that can compete with Sanwa and Seimitsu. HORI innovates the joystick by implementing what they call the V Cut Cam Housing Structure. The details of the Hayabusa can be seen in the picture below.

From a player perspective, the Hayabusa is snappy and very responsive. It doesn’t have that mushy feeling that the Sanwa JLF does. There is very little movement when the joystick is over extended in any direction. This is a big plus in my opinion.

The Hayabusa is definitely a gigantic improvement over any of HORI’s stock joysticks. You can’t go wrong with either a JLF or Hayabusa but if I had to choose one, I will go with the Hayabusa.

The Fighting Edge is scheduled to be released on June 25th and is priced at $199.99 for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. You can pre-order the stick now over at the official Hori website.
