    Hey Toodles, MC Cthulu/Imp Owner here. First let me say thanks for all your hard work, these chips are amazing. Next time i'll be ordering the Chimp for sure!

    My questions is more of a request, and if it's not possible then by all means that's fine! But, I was wondering if there was a way you could make it so that the Cthulu showed up as a USB Keyboard when connected to a PC that could have configurable (or not) keys. Like joystick could bind to keyboard directional pad or WASD. and buttons 1-10 could bind to numbers 1-0 or the num pad. This way I could use it with certain PC games that accept keyboard but dont' recognize the Cthulu.

    Yes I know I could use joy2key or xpadder or something, but that just adds another layer to the mix that often introduces lag. So yeah, thanks again. If you can make this keyboard thing happen you are a god.

    It is technically possible, but it's not something I'd even put anywhere on the todo list. It's not planned, and I doubt that it will ever be included.

    Toodles: i apologize for not reading through the whole thread, but it's a lot of reading. Does the chimp work with a TE xbox360 pcb? I'm no stranger to soldering I just want to make sure.

    Thank you for firmware 1.4. It works wonderfully on my PS2 now.

    However, the Smash mode still doesn't work properly. Left and up movement still default to run on one tap. Is there any hope that this could finally be corrected in 1.5?

    Recently bought a shipment of Chimp boards to dual mod some original TE sticks and Marvel vs Capcom sticks (identical to TE board wise). Assembled the Chimps no sweat, and tested no problem. Tested the sticks on xbox360 before modding and the all worked.

    Did my first two TE/Marvel sticks no problem with two Chimps. The're working great. So I'm on m third, following the graphic button map guide and I've got a problem.

    The Chimp works fine on a PC/PS3 and all the buttons work. However, now when I plug into a 360, I have the following.

    - The 360 stick logo flashes once, then twice.
    - 360 logo blinks for about 5 seconds
    - 360 logo goes dark

    I've had a look at m wiring. I can't see and cross cables. I've checked polarity of the data cabling and it is correct. The ground must be working otherwise the buttons wouldn't work on the Chimp.

    Any tips on what to check next? I've tried eyeballing the TE board but can't find much wrong with it. I know it must be something I've done, I just hope I haven't fried the board.
    Hey jbhewitt... I had the same issue occour to me exactly as you descrived it when I installed the Chimp on my 360 TE. Unfortunately, I've not been able to diagnose or fix it yet. What about you? Were you able to get it resolved? If so, how?

    Next week, I'm going to take a stab at going through the diagnose steps in the first post so I'll post if I'm able to fix it on my end.

    No exist.
    Will not exist.

    Cannot just add Multi-Console Upgrade PIC to ChImp to turn Multi-Console ChImp.

    If you want to do 360 + MC Cthulhu, you can use the imp. That can get pretty complex, though, if you start making detachable cables and whatnot for the Cthulhu.

    No, just remember that you have to do whatever the Imp needs to go into Cthulhu mode, plus holding Start+Select so the Cthulhu will go into the bootloader. If you have to move the slide switch to RS for Cthulhu, then the slide switch needs to be on RS AND you need to hold both start and select when plugging in. If your Imp is connected to Guide so you have to hold down Guide when plugging in for Cthulhu mode, then you have to hold down Guide+Start+Select when plugging in.

    Sure, I can look into it.

    SNES Station -> I haven't tried it myself, but a lot of PS2 homebrew (Example: PS2 KeyLauncher) does not work with digital PS1 controllers; only Dualshock 2 controllers. If that is the case with SNES station, then it is a limitation of SNES Station. The MC Cthulhu can accurately pretend to be a PS1 digital controller, but if the game doesn't like PS1 digital controllers, then it isn't the MC Cthulhu's fault.

    Namco Museum -> I do not have this game. I will keep an eye out in case I can buy a copy cheap.

    Hey Toodles,

    I was just assembling some older MC kits I've had half-assembled and found that I am missing my diodes! I was wondering what are the specs of the 4 diodes so I can run up to my local shop and grab some.

    I've had a google around but I can only find reference to 'glass' and 'black' ones.

    also - I managed to fix my broken TE stick i was having problems with dual modding! i desoldered all my points I had made, scrubbed it with metho, and viola working.

    I got to step 2b and pin 14 has a voltage rating of about 1.43. After unplugging and checking resistance, I got a steady 9.3 ohms (both while plugged in and not plugged in). Is the C2 capacitor fried o_o?
    Ok, Toodles, .47uf capacitors came in. I replaced the one I had and the voltage on pin#14 is still 1.3v. Any ideas?

    Edit - I'm borked . I replaced the .47uf twice with all the same results - after using a solder sucker the third time, the copper contact fell off. I'm cutting my losses, buying another ChImp, and trying again.

    Toodles, any idea on why it simply wouldn't "work"? I reseated the Cthulhu and imp chips multiple times, shorted the appropriate pins to force Cthulhu mode without the imp chip, visually checked all my points for shorts, all to no avail. Does it simply sound like I had a bad chip?

    The glass ones are N4148's, and the black ones are N5817's. If it's easier, you can use the N5817's for all four spots. If you place an order will me, I can throw some in for you.

    I have no idea, but if the resistance through the capacitor was a solid 10 ohms resistance, then it wouldn't have worked with a good chip.

    Hey Toodles,
    Shot in the dark here...but is there ever a way that you could get PSP support on it? It sounds pretty ridiculous I know....but Ive always wondered...the PSP has a slew of fighters on it and I've always wanted to stand up my psp on trips and play some fighters. Dunno, was curious whether its a possibility or why it will never be.

    Got the voltage regulator a little awhile ago, thanks much =]

    edit: someone would probably have to write a program (homebrew'ed psp mandatory) for it to picked up...ahh!

    If anyone has the ability, I'd really like testers and feedback for the NES/SNES support. Here's the link to the beta version with initial NES/SNES support:
    http://www.marcuspost.com/downloads/...Cthulhu14b.zip

    And here's the info needed to make the cables:
    NES

    NES Pin - MC Cthulhu Column
    1 - G
    2 - A
    3 - F
    4 - C
    7 - V

    SNES Pin - MC Cthulhu Column
    1 - G
    4 - C
    5 - F
    6 - A
    7 - V

    Any feedback is always appreciated. I'm also tweaking the Chimp board for the next run of boards. I'm already planning on widening the board slightly so there is more clearance between the 'unlabelled' holes and the mounting screw holes, and adding an additional set of four holes for direct solder of USB cords in a better place than where the USB jack should go. Any other feedback on Chimp tweaks, lemme have 'em, and quick.

    Ok, I sat down today and finally started on my chimp dual mod for my TE and I'm running into a problem: I can get the controller to recognize all buttons and whatnot on PC and xbox, but when I try to get it going on my playstation the guide button lights flash and I get prompted with an unknown USB device error. I checked the wiring and everything looks good but to be sure I pretty much rewired everything and it's still doing the exact same thing. Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

    Hi Toddles & all!!! Sorry if question is dumb or a repeat, but I have a cthulu working flawlessley and would like to light up my buttons, I have translucent buttons with LED bayonett. Is there anywhere I can learn how to do this? or a diagram of sort? Based on stuff I have heared do I put a wire on the VCC(?) then solder the number of wires corresponding to the number of buttons required to one terminal, then do i connect all the others terminals using wire then fit to the c.ground ? sorry if I am treading on old ground, I have searched the site but unfortunatly have not found what I am looking for. Thanks in advance, Justin (BTW my stick is on latest 'check my stick forum' on page 227 ... i think, should you wish to 'check-it-out!!')

    Have any of you MC users tried a Cube JoyBox Pro? It's $10 shipped which to me is worth more than opening my stick and installing a GC controller just for TvC.

    It works, but the button mapping is a little disorienting:
    [ ] = B
    /\ = Y
    X = A
    O = X
    L2 = L
    R2 = R
    Select = Z
    Start = Start

    L1 + R1 = No Function

    Two quick questions, Toodles.

    With GameCube support is 4P supposed to act as B/1K; 4K supposed to act as Y/1P? In addition to the B/1K Y/1P buttons? Not a big issue, just a minor annoyance when accidentally tapping the 4P/4K buttons.

    Lastly, what is your proposed SNES button layout? Only asking because I was planning on going with a 7-button layout and was thinking of swapping the 3K/4P buttons (mostly for my PSX -> Saturn converter). If the L and R shoulder buttons would be the 3P and 3K buttons, I'll avoid doing that.

    Thanks, as always!
