please re-review the stick without the handsome man in the polo shirt. He is too striking and I cannot focus on the contents of the review. No homo.

Nice review. The TE stick has a lot of great features. The cord storage and the tourney lockout are also great touches that show the thought that went into it.

I’m not big on the turbo stuff and think it’s probably out of place for a tourney stick, or could have been put on the front. That’s my only complaint.

Looks like the best retail stick that’s ever been made for fighting games.

  8. XSPR Said,

Great review, I love this. This might sound crazy, but it’s like some, I don’t know, some, infomercial you’d specifically tune in for. Bust out the popcorn! When you’ve got a good player like Alex Valle, it lends all the more credibility. Everyone wins here.

btw I couldn’t help but notice the number of times the word “Execution” was mentioned, maybe it was just me though. “Whatever your style of Execution is” … “Execution-wise,…” … “If you over-exaggerate the button, you’re done, [Peace Out sign]“. It seems like that matters a lot. (?)

  9. LORTZ Said,

I like how kotaku srk, giantbomb, all these sites are just giving out reviews for these sticks and with the limited supply out there expect to sell us this stuff. Like why hype up something you cant find? I cant help but think theyre trying to hype up consumers for the resale on ebay.

Nice video. I can’t wait for segment two, getting into the guts of the stick. Up the energy though, you guys seemed a bit nervous in front of the camera :)

  16. Dan Said,

I think I’ve seen enough of the stick, show a review of the less expensive one.

  17. mrpurple Said,

is there a need for the extra 2 buttons? i havent seen the arcade for sf4 to know if they have a purpose…but they get in the way of old school sf games. also, it seems that the old sf arcade that i played had an elongated joystick instead of the ball…

  18. Sawa Said,

Anyone know where I might find similar coverage of the FightPad? Credible reviews?

Posted on February 4th, 2009 at 2:47 pm

  19. Drew Gee Said,

    @ mrpurple:

The extra buttons on there to switch between japanese style layout (splayed) or american style (horizontal), whatever your preference is. The elongated stick is an american style which (like they mentioned) is a lot less precise.

    Great job guys. :)

  21. ShrewdGameFiend Said,

Wow, I didn’t know they were a lot less precise. I do know if it’s anyway like the sf4 machines it’s responsive as hell. I prefer the old style though because I have bis hands…

  23. DRU Said,

Now I’m probably going to have to buy one of these. I’m running out of excuses not to at this point. Looks like a quality stick but I’ve been waiting to see your review on it. I’m pretty much sold at this point but I have no idea where to pre-order one because they are gone everywhere. I’m looking forward to the next video and seeing what inside and how easy it would be to mod.

    I never thought I’d buy a Madcatz stick over a Hori. :/

  24. ShrewdGameFiend Said,

Does any one know anything about arcade-in-a-box.com. i bought a custom stick there and it seems to work great for execution.

#1 – I have 15 years of experience with madkatz products. I have to see the TOP Players and regular players use it and execute everything perfectly. Is it loud or nice and quiet.(Can you hear springs when you tap a button)

#2 – Whats going on with the regular one ? Is not even worth a review ? Besides size whats the actual difference ?

#3 – Don’t tell me we are getting this because capcom is backing them.

  25. SeanPC Said,

Very good overview! And the first time I’ve seen it unboxed!

I’d like to see a follow-up video with some of the lesser known features ‘under the hood’: the well labeled wiring and user-serviceable parts on the inside, and the removable rubber feet for bolt-on tabletop use.

I’m also curious, is the artwork on the tournament stick replaceable?

  27. Making The Grade: A FightStick Story « SDTEKKEN.COM - Tekken News Resource! Said,

[...] As you can see, the sticks “bring it” when it comes down to the insides and the attention to detail.  Big community names such as Jimmy “ShinJN” Nguyen, Joey “MrWizard” Cuellar , and Alex “CaliPower” Valle have had a lot to say about the Tournament Edition stick, you can even see their review here.
