  8. ABSoLUTE Said,

I didn’t see a headset port for the TE. I really hope they have one on there somewhere.

  9. Kendrik Said,

Wow. The construction on the TE model is very impressive.

Think the standard model has the buttons soldered directly to the PCB(s)? I’d like to use it as a base (can’t really afford the TE right now).

  10. AaronS Said,

    I preordered the TE.

Can’t wait till that thing arrives.

  11. SergioV Said,

I can’t believe how far shoryuken.com has come! It seems like only yesterday shoryuken.com was a website only hardcore street fighters/Nerds knew about.

    2009, here we come….

Wow, these look amazing!!! Can’t wait for them.

Also, checkout SS420.com they are giving away free Street Fighter stuff for the Street Fighter IV game coming out as well. Check them out, pretty cool!

  13. Riot Guard Said,

The TE version although looks really nice, is way too big. They could have kept the same dimensions of the joystick and button layout without making it so wide. You could dissect an animal on that thing.

  14. Jubei Said,

oh no! right when i get enough money to buy the tournament stick, they stop taking preorders :’( . please tell me they are making more to meet demand

Posted on January 15th, 2009 at 5:05 pm

  15. zeththedarkmage Said,

Seen this video a dozen times and was the reasoning for me preordering the TE.

@Jubei, they will be taking more preorders so keep your eyes open. Capcom stated in an official statement that preorders well exceeded the number of units they originally created and are going back to the factories to fill the preorders and allowing for more preorders to be made while they are making more controllers. So some might not be getting their controllers on the 17th but more controllers will be available and all preorders will be filled.

  16. Bluehaze Said,

That last stick was sexy as hell. I wasn’t up to pre-ordering one until I saw this video and was really able to see and hear what was in the TE stick. Now just to figure out which system to buy it for ; )

@zeththedarkmage: Thank-you for providing an update on the pre-order status.

  17. Unreallystic Said,

Man, the TE stick was designed to put folks out of business. I’m looking at it, and the only things I’d change are purely personal prefernce *sorry I’m an American parts kinda guy*. Seth said it had some weight on it – I’d like to see how much as weight and length always seem to bother me with premade sticks, the only one to get it right was just a huge stick *pelican multi-system one*.

My Gamestop pulled preorders for the TE sticks already.

    Fuck yeah, I got mine.

  19. Kendrik Said,

Just got my financial aid check from the college… just a little bit of cash beyond the cost of tuition. I now have the money to preorder a FightStick (I read on the forum that it has hotswappable parts like the TE… so I’ma start cheap and build up).

I hope they’re still taking preorders.

  22. Batsu Said,

I preordered a standard stick and a second Fight Pad…. I figure it’ll be a good stick to learn on, even if it isn’t the TE. This video is very reassuring.

  23. manga Said,

Will you be talking about the HORI sticks as well?

Comparison between them or just a review for the HORI version or is this the only type of stick that you´d recomend to a person who hasn´t played with a stick before in his whole life except for very short times in the arcade?

Posted on January 18th, 2009 at 12:27 pm

  24. Dusk777 Said,

Amazon UK have pre orders up if any UK peeps (like me) have been waiting, i’ve pre ordered my TE!!! Happy… Happy Days!!! xD

  25. NewToSticks Said,

Hopefully my name will spare me any flaming from the happy hardcores here :)

Now my question- can the TE edition (either 360 or PS3) stick connect via usb to a PC where it can be used to play emulator games? That would really sell this stick to me, as it really is a pricey piece of kit.

Cheers guys, I’m new to the street fighter world (played SFII on SNES when I was a kid) but recently got into the Alpha series and even more recently bought SFII HD Remix. My gamertag is c73j if anyone wants a fight!

  26. Mason Said,

    NewToSticks:

I am going to get the regular stick for that reason as well ( and of course to kick ass at SF4 with buttloads of practice). I assume since the 360 one is USB it will be able to connect no problem, same as a regular 360 controller.

That stick + MAME = awesome!

Ryu is a Street Fighter character. Roo is a Winnie the Pooh character.

Posted on January 20th, 2009 at 1:51 am

  28. Dusk777 Said,

    @ NewToSticks:

Yes both versions of this stick will work on PC, from the official madcatz website: Compatible with most fighting games including PC games that support Xbox 360 gamepad controllers.

Also if these sticks prove too expensive for you then the Hori EX2 360 does work on PC too as this is what I use to play SF3 on 2DF and GGPO on my PC and it lso works fine with mame. The Hori sticj can be picked up from around £30 (not sure on US price if that is where you are located) and are very nice sticks especially for the beginner. I wouldnt worry too much about a TE unless you have money to burn or are thinking of fighting competitively at tournaments and such.

    Hope that helps! =]

Oh yeah my gamerTag is the same as my name if anyone wants some SSF2THDR action!

Posted on January 20th, 2009 at 3:52 am

  29. NewToSticks Said,

    Nice!

Thanks for the response- I have looked at the Hori EX 2 sticks but I just assumed that the relatively cheap price meant significantly lower quality, in which case perhaps a FightPad would be a more sensible purchase.

Also Dusk777 (added): how did you get a hold of SF3? I’ve watched Daigo own countless times on youtube in 3rd strike and would love to give the game a shot- it looks brilliant. But there is no anniversary collection or PSX version of the game anywhere that doesn’t cost a fortune!

    Thanks SF community, much love!

  30. Dusk777 Said,

I mainly play SF3 on emulator, it can be obtained for the dreamcast, but to find a legit copy and a DC could cost ya a bit, it is slightly better than playing on emulator as it has all the classic console modes like Vs and Training, there are versions on PS2, in the US and Japan only, so a chipped/modded PS2 (if you’re located outside the US) and either a high import bill or piracy is needed, and on Xbox which was released in the UK. Yay =P but you wont find a copy for less than 20 quid!
IMO its the best street fighter so far, there is tons and tons of depth and strategy to it. I have a CPS3 emulator which is the board SF3 was made for, its not too hard to find if you google for it but i mainly play on 2DF. 2DF is a web based multiplayer arcade emulator but you can play the games solo. It is, again imo, the best online fighting game service around, GGPO is good but i’ve had very few problems with 2DF (apart from it all of a sudden deciding i cant host even though i’ve set my router correctly and could for a short period of time). But as I say its an arcade emulator and has none of the console modes.
I must say at this point before i point you in the direction of any of this you need the roms to play them, IT IS ILLEGAL TO OWN A ROM IF YOU DO NOT OWN THE ORIGINAL GAME (not treating you like you’re stupid just dont wanna get into trouble =P)!!
    The linky for 2DF is:
    http://2dfighter.com/
Now the ROMS you’ll need, I hear there is a good “2DF Rom Pack” on pirate bay put the name of the site tells it all! =P

Quickly back onto the stick side of things, if you were thinking of buying a madcatz stick, maybe get a fightpad + a hori EX2 then you’ll have the best of both worlds plus a nice stick to learn on and it’ll be about the same price as a TE if not a regular.
Anywho i’ll shut up now! =P Any probs dude gimme a shout on Live! =]

    @NewToSticks

search youtube for street fighter 3 mame and you can find a tutorial

i just bought a new ps2 sf anniversary off amazon for $16 a few months ago which has hyper sf2 and sf3: third strike on it, you should be able to get it for a similar price

and both the 360 and ps3 sticks work on the pc, i use a hori fighting stick 3 for mame

  33. Geo Said,

Like what another poster said up there, is there no headset port for these sticks? That would stink, as most of everyone’s gaming will be held online…

  34. Abs Said,

I just don’t understand why it’s £150 here in the UK if it’s $150 in the US.

  35. Dusk777 Said,

    @abs

Yeah i know its rubbish! i did look into importing one to see if it would be cheaper but the way the dollar/pound are at the mo its not worth it!! Have my TE ordered though! xD

Posted on January 21st, 2009 at 1:36 pm

  36. NewToSticks Said,

Jubei- Cheers for the help there… currently d/ling all the essentials for the 3rd strike!

I also noticed the price of the TE Stick in the UK- it stinks, I can’t honestly see them selling more than 100 of them in this country… that is if they even send that many out to us!

    Sad Face…

Does anyone here happen to have experience with the Saturn Pad- if so can they compare it (not so much in build but in ease of use) with the 360 controller?

    Thanks!

  37. NewToSticks Said,

Sorry to double post but I finally had a bash at 3rd Strike tonight and I’ve been up till 2am playing it; so good it’s unreal.

Anyone recommend any more good mame games?

Posted on January 21st, 2009 at 7:25 pm

  38. Jubei Said,

    @NewToSticks

Don’t forget Alpha 3, II’ (with hyper fighting), super turbo, marvel vs. capcom, guilty gear XX (if you can find it) for fighting games

What other arcade genres do you like? beat em ups, shmups, run and gun, puzzle, etc..?

Posted on January 22nd, 2009 at 4:04 am

  39. NewToSticks Said,

Man, I love all games. That’s why I have to be careful with these emulators; I will literall play these ROMs to death in an attempt to appreciate every aspect of them. The only consolation nowadays is that I have a fairly high standard so I tend to know which games will suit me best.

The short answer: I enjoy all genres- let me know your favourites.

    Peace

Yeah it was this video and the this hour long one on 1up that got me to buy a TE. The way the guys seem genuinely impressed with the stick is what got me, as much as im sure seth loves the TE he does work for capcom and probably wouldnt say anything negative about it. I can’t wait for february 20th!!! soooo long away!!!

Wow, almost no one is taking pre-orders for the TE in the UK now, pre-ordered the PS3 version for £97.99 from somewhere and they stopped too!

Posted on January 23rd, 2009 at 2:50 pm

  44. l ballard Said,

so does this mean, with the TE stick, you can switch the placement of the a,b,x,y buttons thus making it functional for umk3 (since for some hellish reason they didn’t make it possible to configure your controls)?

Posted on January 29th, 2009 at 11:30 pm

  45. V Langs Said,

    @newtosticks

you asked about the saturn pad.

my only hope is that the fightpad is somewhere CLOSE to how good these ones are…

I have the non-vibration pc/mac model and i have to say I love it!

I play SF3 and HDR for about 2-3 hours a day with it and i know i play better with that than I do with a stick. I have the anniversary stick and it’s good, but the cheap $23 (on ebay) Saturn pad is hard to beat! It even works with PS3!

my only gripe would be how thin it is…If the fightpad is thicker and more round on the edges it’ll eclipse this (floating d-pad withstanding)

If you’re looking to save a bunch of cash, get a good pad, and play on your PS3 and PC then def look into the saturn pad…i have a fight pad preordered and i have my adaptor (thank god i found one) for my anniversary stick the saturn pad is #1 atm but if it isn’t as good as the fight pad then it’ll soon be at the bottom of the pack.

i seriously can’t get enough of this pad…

  46. V Langs Said,

p.s. vdiddy210 on playstation network if someone wants a REAL challenge (It’s sad, but i think the 360 has better players…) i’ll have my sagat/ken combo ready…

    ….hdr of course…
