    Today at the Amusement Machine Show in Japan, Arc System Works formally announced the impending release of BlazBlue Continuum Shift II for arcades. This followup to BBCS will feature Mu-12, Makoto, Valkenhayn, and Platinum as new characters, which will mirror the fully upgraded console version after Valkenhayn and Platinum are released for download.

    Other than the usual information, it is worthy of note that the game can be updated with balance tweaks periodically by the publisher without any help from the arcade owners. The era of the balance patch is here, so it should be interesting to see how it effects long term competitive play. BBCSII should hit arcades this winter. ...

    Hibikster over at SNK-Capcom.com wrote up a wonderful recap on the recent T11 tournament. The "T" series are Canada's nationals, like a northern, colder Evo. Here is a little sample, and you can check out the whole thing here.

    "2010 celebrates Toronto’s 11th Canadian Street Fighter Nationals, T11, which was held at the TFNS Centre in Toronto Ontario. With each passing year, this event is growing substantially, attracting talented players from all across Canada (Toronto, Mississauga, Waterloo, Montreal, London, Windsor, Burlington, Hamilton, Oshawa, Ottawa, Burlington, Hamilton, Bellville, and even from Newfoundland) and the US (Buffalo, NYC, Pittsburgh). This was the first time I have attended this event, and it definitely won’t be my last. Canadian competition is only increasing with each year, and it will only be a matter of time before we start making top 8 lists in the world of Street Fighter 4. Read on to see how the event went down." ...

    3d-action-fighting-game Final Fantasy Dissidia got a lukewarm reception from hardcore fighting game fans. On one hand, it has great graphics and puts tons of iconic Final Fantasy heroes and villains together to fight it out. On the other hand, many complaints about balance within the game's systems and characters, along with the fact that its on PSP, probably kept it from seeing any competitive love. That isn't a knock on the PSP, either, as we all know how difficult it is for a competitive game to work on a handheld.

    Square-Enix isn't finished with this experiment, however. Dissidia Duodecim is coming out next year, and while it looks to use the same engine with more characters (a fighting game tradition!), we have to hope that the complaints about the actual gameplay have been heard and will be addressed in the new version. Kain from FF4, and Lightning from FF13 will be joining the cast of playable characters, and we can assume more will be announced as the game gets closer to release. ...

    From TRMK.org comes some more evidence proving the existance and release window for Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection. The rumors say this game is MK1, MK2, and UMK3 with completely refilmed digitized spritework done with brand new actors in high def. According to a few different outlets, a Ps3 release of around November 20th is very possible. The screenshot is of one retailer's pre-order window, offering the game on November 17th of this year.

    Neil Edwards is joining the ranks of the many Capcom or Marvel artists to do some promotional artwork for this long-awaited crossover's return. Check out his artwork and the interview he gave to Marvel.com about the project below.

    "Marvel.com: What interested you in contributing to this project?

    Neil Edwards: I've always loved video games and own a PS3 and Wii, although I don't get to play on them much these days! When the opportunity came up I thought it was great, so I jumped at the chance to draw Marvel and Capcom characters.

    Marvel.com: What do you find most interesting in matching up the Marvel and Capcom characters?

    Neil Edwards: I think it's [like] finally playing out who's stronger, Hulk or The Thing, but with the Capcom and Marvel characters...and you can never tell who's going to win!"

    Seth "S-Kill" Killian did a recent interview on how he feels about the future of the Street Fighter franchise. Is he happy with how Super SF4 turned out? Thanks to Hadouken.net you can find out below.

    "1- Now that SSF4 has been released, how pleased is capcom with its performance?

    We’re very happy. Super SFIV has been a great demonstration of how fan-feedback can improve even a very popular game and help generate more success (and happy players) going forward.

    2- If you can go back in time what would you have done different for SSF4?

    There are a few relatively small features I’d like to see, but I’m working right now to get them into some upcoming products, so I don’t want to spill the beans on those yet. Apart from that, I was pleased with the way it turned out. I sometimes miss Championship Mode, the menus aren’t optimal for tournaments, and more characters always seem like fun, but overall I thought it turned out great."

    Did you know that Udon was putting together a Darkstalkers and Red Earth (Warzard) crossover comic? Well, neither did I... until I read the press release moments ago. The title is "Maleficarum", and it arrives in stores on October 13th of this year. Sadly, the two universes do not actually cross over, as the short stories told in the manga do not overlap. You can see some of the preview art from this project below. From the press release;

    "Get ready for witches and wolfmen, demons and dinosaurs, knights and vampires – all in one manga! This fall UDON brings two classic Capcom® fighting games together in one action-packed manga title with Darkstalkers™ / Red Earth: Maleficarum.

    Written and drawn by Itou Mami(ROBOT, Pilgrim Jäger) Maleficarum is video game manga at its best. This standalone volume includes five short stories from across the monstrous Darkstalkers universe, as well as a four-chapter tale featuring the swords & sorcery world of Red Earth. You’ll see succubus Morrigan fight the wolfman Talbain, the devilish Jedah confront vampire lord Demitri, the heroic lion-man Leo questing to cure his cursed body, and several more fantastic tales. Also included are gag strips and artist commentary."
