As you may have noticed, we’ve made a more active attempt to cover the tournament scene of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown over in Japan. While we could continue to point out that events like the Tokyo Bay Area Cup — a 3-on-3 team tournament in Japan featuring 30 teams — validate the passion of this game, perhaps there’s no better explanation of the pull of VF than the fact that two-time Evo champion Fuudo found himself in the brackets. If a sponsored player for Street Fighter V could find the time to return to his roots, you know there’s a flame there that will never die.

As always, you can watch the highlights of this event thanks to the efforts of VirtuaFighter.com admin Mike Abdow. He also put together a full breakdown of character usage, which you can check out here.

If you like what you saw, you can watch the full VF5:FS tournament VOD, too:

Hey, I'm just a 3D-head in a 2D-world. I like pretty much all FGC stuff, and I really like hearing about the way people think about games.
