Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from September 28 to October 4, 2018!

Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:

Frame 1:
ssf2x honda super turbo art
E. Honda master Kusumondo joins the list of Japanese players invited to compete in Super Street Fighter II Turbo at Tournament of Legends III

I’ve got fond memories of seeing these Super Turbo masters in action at prior events — and I’m looking forward to seeing it again at this year’s Canada Cup.

Frame 2:
kinniuk
CROW BITES: Kinnikuman Muscle Grand Prix 2’s Wrestling Ring spacing and Stun systems

This game is crazy. I want to see more.

Frame 3:
Zasalamel srk
SoulCalibur VI: Impressions from the online Network Test

Aside from the usual network hiccups, the latest build of SCVI we’ve seen sure looks promising.

Frame 4:
sfv dojo trophy 750x400
VesperArcade offers some insight into Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition’s new Dojo mode

VesperArcade nails what is both right and wrong about the new SFV feature that nobody asked for.

Frame 5:
scvi soulcalibur vi inferno reveal 2 750x400
The fearsome Inferno, the “Hellfire of Despair”, is officially revealed for SoulCalibur VI

Again: SoulCalibur VI is lookin’ good.

Crow_Spaceboy, Assistant Editor:

Frame 1:
omen_of_sorrow_vlad_vs_zafkiel
Omen of Sorrow pre-orders available on PlayStation Store, includes exclusive theme as pre-order bonus

I’m curious to see how Omen of Sorrow does. It’s a very different sort of indie fighter and I have my own theories about what communities are likely to pick it up.

Frame 2:
Mortal Kombat Logo
Rare behind-the-scenes footage of the making of Mortal Kombat 3 surfaces

Honestly, seeing this method of creation looks fun and inspiring. It’s amazing how much craft really went into this process, despite how non-standard it was at the time.

Frame 3:
cody
Version, Makoto, Bas, and others duke it out in the Street Fighter Alpha 3 top 8 at SoCal Regionals 2018

I don’t think my heart could tolerate playing SFA3, but it’s an absolute joy to watch the pros go at it.

Frame 4:
beattribe
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown’s largest annual tournament, 17th Beat Tribe Cup, set for March 23, 2019

I am forever pumped for watching Japanese Virtua Fighter pros.

Frame 5:
aob
FK Digital rebrands as “Border Violation” and releases freeware 2D fighter “Angels of Battle”

I am not sure I can remember a company going in reverse, from a production standpoint, so quickly.
