Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news — and our favorite SRK articles — from August 31 to September 6, 2018!

Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:

Frame 1:
sfv_logo_b&wNotable dataminer Miyuki-Chan returns, claims massive Variable System expansion is coming to Street Fighter V

If half of the stuff X-Kira has dug up here actually makes it into the game proper, SFV will be a very different game in future seasons!

Frame 2:

Kill or be killed! Slice, Dice, and Rice coming to North America’s Nintendo Switch eShop in September

The Switch is a great platform for offbeat indie fighters like this, and I’ve been looking forward to this port. It’s downloadable now.

Frame 3:

The Tekken 7 Season 2 Patch Notes have gone live on US and JP Sites

SO. MANY. CHANGES. And the “mostly buffs” promise tastes a tad bitter when you see your favorite move on your main get nerfed anyway!

Frame 4:

Leaked images from Melbourne eSports Open show Cervantes and Raphael in SoulCalibur VI

No need to wait for official reveals when an event gets a build that’s a ways ahead of the marketing schedule!

Frame 5:

Check out what’s in store for Tekken 7 Season 2 with this new trailer

Along with the balance changes above, Tekken 7 has kicked off a new season with new DLC characters to mix things up. The Season Pass is available now.

Crow_Spaceboy, Assistant Editor:

Lethal League: Blaze reveals latest character, ex-cop vigilante Nitro

Absolutely, 100% in love with this character design. Between him and Doombox, I’m ready for LLB.

Frame 2:
eliza_v_claudio_750
Eliza has a new glitch in Tekken 7’s latest patch that makes her super unblockable

Eliza’s super just won’t behave, will it? A new season in Tekken 7 and a new way for Eliza to break the rules.

Frame 3:
final round 2018 edit white
Final Round confirmed to be returning in March 2019

As far as I’m concerned, Final Round is an institution in the FGC, so I’m happy it’s back. Final Round 2017 was one of the best tournaments I’ve ever been to.

Frame 4:
The-Design-Of-French-Bread-Fighting-GamesLearn about Studio French Bread’s design philosophy in latest episode of Exploring Fighting Games Extra 8

I have an incredible amount of respect for French Bread. They have a clear and unique design philosophy and found a way to strike out beyond the niche indie circle their product seemed confined to.

Shoryuken interview: Rangchu talks about his choice in Tekken 7 characters, and his experience at Evo 2018

I will never not marvel at top players saying they don’t use training mode. Blows my mind, every time.
