With the advent of patches and interactive development, the balance of fighting games has become a dynamic system — from patch to patch, entire metagames can change, shifting how players see a roster every 2 months or so. Dragon Ball FighterZ saw a shift of its own recently, adjusting the strength of nearly every character in preparation of the second batch of DLC. This balance patch brought strength to underwhelming characters like Nappa, while toning back dominant forces like Bardock — the most dominant of all forces, though, seems to have come out unscathed.
Cell still seems to be just as good, despite receiving noticeable damage nerfs to several of his moves. In the video shown below, Omega Zero showcases several combos that are viable despite the nerfs — including an astonishing “touch of death” without use of any teammates. Although the scope of power in Dragon Ball FighterZ is vastly different from a month ago, it’s clear that Cell will still be a powerful asset to competitive play.
