Capcom has released previously-unrevealed concept art for the game’s newest character: the President of the World.
Street Fighter V’s latest addition, G, is still as much of a mystery as he was before his release. With a story mode that doesn’t reveal much (other than a web-based “election” campaign) and a costume that uncannily resembles 3rd Strike’s Q, there is still a lot about the Prez that is left up to fan speculation. Street Fighter’s Twitter account recently uploaded a few panels of G’s early concept art from the Shadaloo C.R.I.: while they reveal a different set of costumes from his current design, there are no clues as to his past — or to his possible connection to Q.
While G’s arms are covered in rotating, golden tattoos that represent the seven continents, earlier designs plastered a globe over his entire body. With dark, blue skin, and lines of latitude and longitude running crossways, G truly looked like the President of the World. His second design depicts him with a smart monocle, while the third gives him long sleeves to cover his tattoos: possibly to give him a more normal, easily-palatable appearance for the masses.
While this art does nothing more than further reinforce his desire for worldwide presidentiality, other concept art released in the interim does hint at an organization of fighters much like Q. With a male and female model both donning Q-like masks and outfits, one has to wonder if Q — and maybe G — is part of something bigger than himself. That is Street Fighter’s new great mystery, and G’s introduction is just a piece of the puzzle.
