With the impending reveal of a new Super Smash Bros. game for the Switch, one question on more than a few Smash players’ minds is: how will they be able to use GameCube controllers with it? For those that have leftover equipment from the Wii U generation, the prior GC controller adapter became partially compatible in an October Switch update. Now, it seems that there’s a potentially better answer on the way — officially-licensed GameCube-styled controllers for the Switch.

The existence of these was first revealed in a reddit post, where a redditor named Mew_The_Creator stated that mock-ups of the controllers were sent to the facility where he works. They state that the mock-ups were sent in by Nintendo for their company to create product layouts for stores.

The controllers themselves will be made by PowerA, who are producing officially licensed accessories for the Switch. The controllers themselves, or at least the photos on the boxes, look just like the original GameCube controllers, save for a few Switch-exclusive additions. Also, the images confirm that they’ll come in at least two (classic) colors — indigo and black.

With E3 2018 just around the corner, it’s likely we’ll learn more about these at the event.
