Team OG is making a significant step away from its current strategy. The Red Bull-owned esports team has been focused on Dota 2 till now, but their latest foray steps into fighting game territory. Recently, the team announced the signing of James “Swedish Delight” Liu as their first Super Smash Bros. player.

“In 2015, OG was found on an intense passion and vision for Dota 2 with a competitive drive and unwillingness to take shortcuts on the road to victory,” the team wrote on their Facebook page. “Since then, the OG family has grown and gathered many sweet memories from tournament successes to the smiles, laughs, and chants of our faithful fans. Today, we reforge the same.”

OG|Swedish Delight has been busy with Smash Summit 6 this past weekend, and he will also soon play at Get On My Level 2018 in Canada, later in May.

Markedly, this signing from OG could be a pivot that’s ahead of the curve in anticipation for the Nintendo Switch version of Smash
