Capcom-Unity breaks down Falke’s abilities in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

Following close on the heels of her reveal trailer, Capcom has provided a closer look into the background and gameplay of Falke, the Guardian Hawk, the next DLC character inbound for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. She arrives on April 24th!

Her history, via Capcom-Unity:

Falke was built to be an alternative clone for M. Bison. She was heavily experimented on by Shadaloo and was forced to train day in, day out to achieve perfection. Falke has the unique ability to infuse Psycho Power into objects and release it through them, mainly through her staff, which she named Harmony. Years of harsh training went by, causing Falke to spiral deep into despair, wishing for it all to end. Finally, Ed came to her rescue and they both were able to escape Shadaloo. Now, the two have a sibling-like bond and are searching for others like them in need of help.

Now joined with Ed in “Neo Shadaloo”, she fights by using her staff Harmony as a conduit for her Psycho Power. She can gather the power in the staff and release it for slightly different effects, emulating a shotgun blast (Psycho Kugel), shooting a projectile at a downward angle out of the air (Psycho Feder), and while crouching down on the ground to shoot a projectile at the opponent’s feet (Psycho Kanonen) — she can duck under other projectiles while using Psycho Kanonen! Apparently many of her special moves inputs will follow Ed’s example, and be activated by multi-button presses, rather than classic directional commands.

Here’s a closer look at her V-System:

V-Skill: Psycho Trombe

Falke spins her staff in front of her one-handed. It can be cancelled into by a variety of normal moves, and absorbs projectiles.

V-Trigger I: Staerken

A 2-bar V-Trigger. Falke’s ability to gather and release Psycho Power from her staff increases, allowing her to use “powered-up” versions of her special moves without needing to charge first.

Pressing HP+HK again during this V-Trigger will use Psycho Shrot, a stronger version of Psycho Kugel that fires three “bullets” instead. Pressing down and HP+HK will use Psycho Panzer, a more-damaging version of Psycho Kanonen. Pressing HP+HK in the air will use Psycho Jaeger, a stronger Psycho Feder that ricochets off the ground. Psycho Shrot and Kanonen can be canceled into each other, and can leave the opponent open for a Critical Art.

V-Trigger II: Psycho Angriff

A 3-bar V-Trigger. Falke’s staff techniques get powered up in various ways. Falke will immediately twirl Harmony and knock her opponent into the air on activation, following up with a Psycho-Powered strike.

Pressing HP+HK again during this V-Trigger will use Psycho Sturm, a sweeping hit with her staff that can be canceled into to extend combos. Pressing down and HP+HK will use Psycho Klinge — where she jumps diagonally into the air and slams her staff down on the opponent, which can be followed up with normal attacks. Falke’s V-Skill — Psycho Trombe — gains the ability to reflect projectiles during Psycho Angriff. Each of the new moves Falke gains during Psycho Angriff can be canceled into from special moves.

Critical Art: Psycho Fluegel

Falke uses some Psycho-Powered pole acrobatics to knock her opponent into the air, and follow them up there for some brutal attacks!
