Twitter has been buzzing with footage of infinites in Dragon Ball FighterZ, thanks to an apparent glitch affecting the Ginyu Force. Players have found that when playing Captain Ginyu, continuing a combo after Recoome’s Eraser Gun special attack will disrupt the game’s hitstun deterioration mechanic, allowing for a second character to tag in and perform infinite combo loops.

Under normal circumstances the game will reduce the hitstun of each attack during the course of a combo until the victim is able to tech in midair. For some reason Recoome’s beam disrupts the hitstun scaling mechanic, and allows combos to go on indefinitely. Similar glitches have impacted games like Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Persona 4 Arena in the past.

Because Captain Ginyu’s “Together… Ginyu Force” special rotates between members of the Ginyu Force, landing the ideal combo starter to lead into the infinite is certainly no easy task. But while eliminating a character in a single combo is nothing new to Dragon Ball FighterZ, there is usually a higher cost of meter, Sparking, and execution associated with the combo. Earning such a high reward for landing Recoome’s blast was likely not a design choice, and it would be unsurprising to see the effect patched out in the near future.
