The saga of the physical releases of Skullgirls 2nd Encore by Limited Run Games has been a long and arduous one. Plagued by multiple delays, fans saw the light at the end of the tunnel when the PlayStation 4 version started shipping last October. Now, it seems that the PlayStation Vita version will finally see the light of day as well.
On an update on the official Skullgirls site, Lab Zero has stated that the physical release for PlayStation Vita has finally been approved by Sony, and will now move on to manufacturing. Apparently, the reason for the long approval process was due to some back-and-forth negotiations between Lab Zero and Sony for waivers for some minor bugs — bugs that players would never notice, but that Sony wanted fixed anyway. In the cases where waivers weren’t granted, the bugs had to be fixed.
As for the all important question of when the physical version for Vita will finally be released, all that they’re waiting for is for Sony to approve the game’s manual. Once that’s done, manufacturing takes about two to three weeks.
With this in mind, Lab Zero estimates that copies should ship out in about three weeks. However, to be sure, they will post another update once they have confirmation that the physical copies are shipping out.
