Evo Japan is nearly upon us, and soon, many members of the FGC community will find themselves in the Land of the Rising Sun for the first time. While most of the arrangments probably have been made if you’re indeed going, a little extra research on how to get around and behave won’t hurt. After all, while there is a lot of information in English, there’s still a language barrier present, and Japanese customs are very different.

Luckily, known Japanese Guilty Gear player (and very good Venom), 310, put together and quick and easy guide with useful links that talks about a few things you need to know. In his Travel Guide for the FGC, he points to some good money exchange spots in Akihabara and Ikebukuro, and some tips for trains (which, importantly, don’t run 24 hours). Scroll to the bottom to see some important travel words.

But what’s going to be really important for FGC players is the “Arcade Etiquette” section. For one, you have to understand how lines in the arcade work. You shouldn’t play again if you’ve lost if there are any people behind you, unless they are fine with it. Also, some arcades allow smoking, but not all places do. 310 also gave map links to all the arcades you’d like to visit and listed their “main” games.

Recently, he updated the original doc — and welcomes questions. Check out the full guide on Evernote.

Good luck to those going to Evo Japan, and also, you may remember him from the 310 homage Guilty Gear combos.
