This weekend’s Dragon Ball FighterZ open beta hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for everyone involved. People trying the game out have reported issues with finding matches, or even just getting into the beta — oftentimes receiving the dreaded “failed to initialize network” message at the log on screen.

Bandai Namco has released a statement acknowledging these issues. In it, they state that the fixes to the server will take some time and that — while they will keep the beta open — people will run into these issues while they’re working on them.

More importantly, they’ve stated that if they cannot address the issues in a decent amount of time, they will look into extending the open beta. While the main server issues seem to have been fixed now, players are still facing long wait times when trying to find an opponent. The last bit of news is most welcome, giving those of us who’ve had more than our fair share of issues getting into the beta time to actually play it. In addition to this, it’ll hopefully give Bandai Namco and Arc System Works time to iron out the issues with the online play before launch.

UPDATE: At time of publication, there had been no confirmation from Bandai Namco that the beta period would be extended. Bandai Namco later followed up on social media, indicating that the beta would not be extended this time:

UPDATED AGAIN: What’s this? According to Bandai Namco Europe…

… and Bandai Namco US agrees, of course.

Dragon Ball FighterZ launches on January 26 in North America and Europe, and February 1 for Japan.
