Developer Mane6 has announced that their bovine-themed fighter, Them’s Fightin’ Herds, is officially shooting for a February 2018 release date. The announcement marks a end to a journey few thought possible for a Fighter Maker-based project marred in legal threats early on in development.

Mane6 was saved by the unlikely support of Skullgirls Mike Zaimont and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic‘s producer Lauren Faust, not to mention a successful crowdfunding campaign. Them’s Fightin’ Herds features Faust’s colorful designs, chain-based combo system, and GGPO-powered netplay.

The team has chronicled the development process of their game over on their YouTube channel, for anyone curious about the behind-the-scenes efforts needed to make an indie fighter.

Hey, I'm just a 3D-head in a 2D-world. I like pretty much all FGC stuff, and I really like hearing about the way people think about games.
