Have you ever stepped up to a tournament station thinking that the controller port that you plug into matters? If you have, you likely play Super Smash Bros. Melee — where being particular in the controller port you use is more than just superstition.

In this video, SSBM Tutorials explains the differences between GameCube controller ports; while controller port one will always get a grab or ledge grab in a tie, the other ports have advantages out of throws, where they can react faster.
