Last year, MangaGamer announced that they were bringing Ōgon Musōkyoku CROSS to the west via Steam as Golden Fantasia CROSS. Now we know when the game is coming out, as they’ve opened up a Steam store page listing its release date as December 9.

Originally released on December 31, 2011, Ōgon Musōkyoku CROSS is an expansion on the original Ōgon Musōkyoku (itself a spin off of the Umineko When They Cry visual novel series). The update adds a number of new characters, specifically Dlanor A. Knox, Erika Furudo, and Black Battler.

The Steam release features all of these, as well as the three additional characters added in the 2012 patch — Bernkastel, Lambdadelta, and Willard H. Wright. In addition to these, this new release features online play using Steam’s online matchmaking. This online play uses rollback-based netcode, and includes a lobby system for players looking to set up online play sessions with friends and rivals alike.

As a bit of cross promotion, MangaGamer has put the latest installment of the Umineko When They Cry series, the so-called “Answers Arc,” on sale on Steam. Those interested in catching up on the main series can get the game at a 10% discount until November 25.
