Little is still known about Android 21, the bespectacled female fighter whose origins begin in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Though she has no past presence in any other part of the fictional world of the Z Fighters, recent news says that may not be the case for her future.
Reportedly, Bandai Namco producer Tomoko Hiroki confirms that 21 was created solely with Dragon Ball FighterZ in mind, but she says that if she becomes popular with the fans, the possibility of her appearing in Dragon Ball manga, anime, or other video games is on the table.
Additional info acquired from a Bandai Namco group interview confirmed that she was designed by Akira Toriyama himself. After being given only a description of her personality and role in the game’s story, the rest was left to the Dragon Ball originator’s creative whims — and the character as we see her now is his own finished work.
A character created for a video game crossing over into an anime or manga may be something that has never happened to the Dragon Ball series before, but the fact that Android 21 was created by Toriyama-san makes the idea less than far-fetched.
