Prior to the release of its latest fighting game, ARMS, Nintendo announced that all future DLC would be free. In response, dataminers GoldFlame and Eizak have picked through ARMS’ files to see what the future may hold for Nintendo’s DLC plans.

What they uncovered are references to a scrapped stage called “Crank,” a fully modeled-out and unused minigame called “Sighting,” and a series of parameter files for characters in the game. Many of the files present reference the weapons or themes of currently existing characters… but not all of them.

  • Chain
  • Coil
  • Plant
  • Robo
  • Scroll
  • Sumo
  • Surprise
  • Sweet
  • Twintale

While it’s possible some of these are simply older models of existing characters (Twintale, Coil, Robo) others in this list have no correlation to any currently existing character (Sweet, Plant, Surprise).

The files referenced don’t point to data that exists on the disc, so we don’t know much else beyond this. You can find more information on the methodology used to discover this data in the source link below, and in the interview video above with Eizak.
