Following the reveal of his official gameplay trailer at the Evo finals for Tekken 7, IKevinX has wasted no time in compiling all of the known anime and manga references for the new fighter.

Here, we can see that Trunks’ introductory scene and initial Super Saiyan transformation are beautifully replicated from the anime, as well as several of his moves being drawn from DBZ, Super, GT and even Extreme Butoden. We also see his signature Burning Attack — and all of its intricate hand motions-fully recreated, which looks especially cool in Arc System Work’s cel-shaded artstyle! Trunks also slices up Frieza with his sword, complete with split effects, culminating in the Shining Sword Attack that lead to the tyrant’s first demise.┬áLastly, we see his Lightning Sword Slash he used to vanquish Android 14 in Super Android 13! as well as his Heat Dome attack, fittingly used on Perfect Cell. You can see the full video with all the comparisons below.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to be released in early 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. Sign-ups for a closed beta on PS4 will open on July 26th, and will feature all seven currently-revealed characters, as well as two more Z Warriors to be unveiled on July 21st in V-Jump magazine.

If you’d like to see more references to the source material for other fighters, check out Goku and Frieza, Teen Gohan and Vegeta and Perfect Cell and Majin Buu.
