Despite the genre’s habit of sticking to some tried-and-true conventions, there are some fighting game franchises that try to break the mold. One such franchise is the Senko no Ronde series of games, which combines traditional fighting game mechanics with those of a scrolling shooting game. The result is a game that takes both traditional 2D fighting game space control and projectile combat onto another level.
Now, Degica Games, Chara-Ani, and G.rev have announced that the latest installment of the series, Senko no Ronde 2, will be coming to both PlayStation 4, and PC (via Steam) on September 7. The digital edition of the game on PlayStation 4 in Japan will cost ¥ 4,800 ($43.50 USD). Meanwhile Kadokawa will also be releasing standard and limited edition physical copies of the game for ¥5,800 ($52.50 USD) and ¥9,800 ($88.70 USD) respectively. Included in the limited edition of the game are the “Senko no Ronde 2 Materials Guide” creation materials book, a creation materials DVD, and the original soundtrack CD.
As for the West, a similar set of digital–as well as standard and limited edition physical releases–are also planned for PlayStation 4. Details on these, however, have not yet been released.
In the meantime: here is the intro movie, and some gameplay footage.
