There’s no quick path to victory–in fighting games, or in life. I think it’s safe to say Yahoo! Esport’s journalist Michael Martin knows this well. Here, he’s sat down with the “People Playing Games” podcast and shares his long path from gamer, to freelance writer, to full time employee on the staff of IGN and Yahoo!

In the nearly hour-long chat, he covers a wide range of topics: Everything from his favorite games, to juggling his gaming job with his family life, to the harsh realities of being in the games media industry. While surely these subjects have been covered before, Michael is an example of someone from within our community carving out a path for himself based purely on his love of the genre. It’s a worthy listen for anyone that wants to do the same.

Hey, I'm just a 3D-head in a 2D-world. I like pretty much all FGC stuff, and I really like hearing about the way people think about games.
