It seems the rumors were true, as The King of Fighters XIV producer Yasuyuki Oda has today announced on the PlayStation Blog that the fourth and final DLC character for KOF XIV would indeed be Rock Howard. A fan favorite and lead character in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Rock’s appearance in KOF XIV will be his first visit to the main King of Fighters series. That’s not to say that he is going to feel out of place though–apparently the team has made a big effort to make sure that he feels like a good fit for KOF XIV’s engine.

There’s other good news for fans of Geese’s estranged son: Oda is adamant that he is not going to be among the weaker members of the cast, as he was in Garou.

Rock Howard was actually fairly weak and considered low-tier in Garou: Mark of the Wolves. I can say with all confidence that is not the case with his appearance in KOF XIV!

Rock is joined by Whip, Yamazaki and Vanessa, all of whom will be available on April 5. And even if you don’t pick up the DLC characters, you’ll get free stages and background music on April 5, too!

Keegan “Interrobang!?” Spindler is Shoryuken's Features Editor, and is far better at thinking about Fighting Games than winning at them. Somehow every character he picks turns out to be low tier, and when he’s not getting beaten you can find him writing nonsense tweets - @DumbGrammarJoke – and trying to work out how to get good.
