Dark Phoenix has cast a spectre over the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 series since the game’s launch; while she was adjusted in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, players such as Splyce|Filipino Champ, RyanLV, Noel Brown, and Neo have continued to show how Dark Phoenix remains a threat.

With Dark Phoenix continuing to be dangerous, players have come up with all sorts of ways to counter her. This new method, however, may be the most unique. Finisher of war has discovered a glitch using Firebrand that keep Phoenix from going Dark when she revives.

The glitch involves using a move or assist, such as Viewtiful Joe’s “Shocking Pink” bomb that damages both Firebrand and Phoenix, while killing the latter. Instead of Phoenix reviving as Dark Phoenix however, she instead simply gets all her life back, while losing the 5 bars of meter she would have used to activate the Dark Phoenix state.

You can see the glitch in action in the video below.¬†Currently, it seems to work only with Firebrand; whether or not other characters can trigger it is–as of yet–unknown.
