Anime Ascension–the tournament organized by Aksys Games–wrapped up yesterday, climaxing two days of action in a variety of anime fighting games. Arguably the most hype was Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, which had a bigger pot bonus, in line with BlazBlue: Central Fiction.

As top 8 drew close to finishing, daymendou’s Slayer clawed his way to the top through the loser’s side, beating opponents like BjornSonOfBear on his way. His final challenger was KidViper, a top Johnny player in the United States. In what some would call an upset, daymendou managed to reset the bracket and blaze the trail for an epic Grand Finals that’s worth remembering for sure.

Check out the battle from the footage below, which starts right around 10:24, in the Losers side of the Grand Finals. Check the full Anime Ascension 2017 results here.
