Those following the business side of fighting game news are likely aware of how esport team Echo Fox has recently signed a number of top Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Super Smash Bros. players. The move has transformed them into something of a super-team, featuring a number of former MadCatz and Evil Geniuses players.

Yahoo! Esports’s Michael Martin caught up with Echo Fox’s CEO Jace Hall, where they talked about the latter’s recent acquisitions. Regarding why they signed all these top players, Hall talks about how the fighting game community is filled with a lot of underexposed talent. He also mentions how the time is now ripe for esports organizations to get involve and help provide opportunities for fighting game players.

In addition to this, he also talks about setting Echo Fox up as a place for their players to grow,¬†and how it’s not just about figuratively “holding a gun” to the players heads and expecting them to win.
