It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that Super Street Fighter Carnival 2016, Mikado’s 2-month long tournament gauntlet through a wide variety of arcade fighters, has entered it’s last week. We’ve been covering the games since the beginning and if you’ve wanted to get in on anything you’ve missed, there’s plenty to catch up on!

Now is not the time for tears, though. We should look towards the future.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Heritage For The Future is Capcom’s wild attempt at interpreting one of Japan’s longest running manga into a fighting game. Not an easy task, given that it’s source material is largely full of endless monologues, posing, and puzzle bosses. While it’s Capcom’s only attempt at a JoJo game, JJBA:HftF is a cult classic thanks to its gorgeous sprite work and interesting system mechanics. The fact there’s menacing competition at Mikado for this game is probably no surprise.

Virtua Fighter 3: Team Battle wasn’t nearly the success in America that it was in Japan. It took forever to come out to consoles and, when it did, it was for the dwindling Dreamcast. And that’s a shame, because as this video shows, VF3 has a ton of depth and excitement. This ambitious entry fully embraced its 3D core and defined many of the mechanics that VF4 and 5 would become known for.

As always, you can follow along Mikado’s upload schedule on YouTube, or try to catch them live on their UStream.

Hey, I'm just a 3D-head in a 2D-world. I like pretty much all FGC stuff, and I really like hearing about the way people think about games.
