“Super Street Fighter Carnival” is the regularly-occurring tournament series of Japan’s famous Mikado Arcade. The series focuses on arcade titles of old, bringing out high level play for a variety of fighters. SSFC2016, the current season, has been running since 10/11/16. It’s hard to believe, but we’ve only got one week left of tournaments from SSFC2016!

Tōkidenshō Angel Eyes is a 1996 fighting game by Tecmo. This game has a lot of mechanics that were pretty advanced for it’s time: air dashes, air blocking, homing jumps, and more. For me, though, my absolute favorite thing about this game is that at the beginning of every round, the game throws both combatants at each other automatically. That’s one way to stop turtling!

The King of Fighters is a staple of the Mikado scene, so KOF 95′ appearing twice in the tournament series is no surprise. Let the runback begin!

KOF ’95 was not the only game to get a second shot this week, though! Samurai Shodown 2 also returns to SSFC2016. After last month’s close grand finals, this is something I’ve been looking forward to in particular. I can’t believe I’ve lived as long as I have and didn’t know Potemkin learned to flick away incoming projectiles from Sieger!

You can follow the action by subscribing to Mikado’s official YouTube channel. You can even try to catch them when they livestream!

Hey, I'm just a 3D-head in a 2D-world. I like pretty much all FGC stuff, and I really like hearing about the way people think about games.
