UPDATE: Edits have been made to clarify that this fan poll is specifically to ask if fans want the Japanese voice track in the US physical release of Skullgirls 2nd Encore.

Companies polling fans to decide their next step with a product isn’t particularly new. We’ve had character polls before, with Capcom or NetherRealm gauging interest on potential roster members. Even Lab Zero did this, back during the fundraising campaign they did for Skullgirls DLC characters. Despite being nothing new, the recent poll by Lab Zero and Autumn Games is a little different. They’re asking if including a Japanese voice track is crucial for people who are considering buying a physical release. Licensing costs are quite expensive, so this poll is to determine whether it is worth spending that extra bit of cash, if it is what Skullgirls fans really want.

Japanese fans already have a physical release of the game, provided by Arc System Works, and since then Lab Zero has been very receptive of US fans asking for the same. This poll has two options on it: Would you buy a physical release with Japanese voices, and if you would buy one without them. I’m rooting for the option to switch between US and JPN voices, as the JPN voices are completely new additions that are currently only available on Japanese discs. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what comes of this poll.
