Evo 2016 is right around the corner, and just like the last four years, Evo will be teaming up with The MIX to provide indie developers with a chance to demonstrate their games. This year’s Evo Indie Showcase will take place from 8 AM until 9 PM on July 15th and 16th.
The fighting game community is a tight-knit culture who share a lot in common with Indies. Both are interested in system design and have grassroots community backgrounds; both appreciate well-crafted game design and mechanics, and both understand that games are only as fun as the people you can play with. The MIX and EVO are independent productions who strive to develop their cultures and bring people together to share amazing experiences.
Participating in the EVO Indie Showcase isn’t just about developers putting their games in front of potential players for sales, it’s also about seeing what some of the game-breakingest people in video games can do with what has been created. Fighting game fans are interested in understanding deep gameplay mechanics and finding ways to creatively use the systems to take games to another level through mastery. Indies just might learn a thing or two about their own games–and maybe even meet a few people who can help make them better.
How do I sign up?
If you’re an indie developer looking to show off your work to a huge crowd of eager players, you can head over to The MIX’s site to apply. Registration will remain open until next Thursday, June 23.
If you are selected to show off your game, you will be asked to set up the necessary equipment on July 14 between the hours of 4 and 6 PM; you will also be required to have at least one team member present to demo your game during the hours of showcase operation.
Evo is set to take place July 15-17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
