As was previously reported, NorCal Regionals 2016 has taken a rather unique with late registration. Instead of closing it down altogether, the organizers have placed every at-the-door registrant for Street Fighter V, Ultra Street Fighter IV, and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in their own respective pools.

While at least 100 players were expected to register in this way, the number is a bit more modest at 52, but the density of skill is still pretty high. Notable players who will take part in this ‘death pool’ include Panda Global’s Filipino Champ, Evil Geniuses’ K-Brad, r/Kappa’s Poongko, Mad Catz’ Mago, Flipside Tactics’ Alucard, MOV, Marn, Chris Tatarian, Taekua, and iPeru.

With competition in this group set to kick off at 5 PM PDT, we wanted to pose a question to our readers: what do you think of this move? Do you agree? Disagree? We’ve included a quick poll below to gauge public opinion, so feel free to take part and visit our comments to provide your reasoning.

NorCal Regionals action will be live all weekend; keep up with our coverage hub.
