According to the folks at NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat X will feature alternate control schemes, allowing those who aren’t used to the series’ deliberate inputs to use more common motions like quarter-circles, half-circles, and more to perform special attacks.

Not only does this give players transitioning from other titles a better way to get their feet wet, it also lessens the frustration Mortal Kombat’s traditional controls can often cause for those who prefer to play on arcade sticks over regular controllers.

Injustice: Gods Among Us included a similar option in its settings, and it’s great to see NetherRealm again looking out for players that may not be in their core fanbase. This should definitely help Street Fighter players excited for the upcoming title breath a sigh of relief; I know I have!

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 14, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases planned for summer.
