The Capcom Pro Tour has reached its final stop. Capcom Cup 2014 is a culmination of tens of offline and online tournaments and thousands of players seeking one of the coveted qualifier spots. The road has led us to The Warfield in San Francisco, California for the Grand Final. Sixteen players have risen above the rest and will now compete for crown and prize pool of over $50,000.

Capcom has a few other plans for the event beyond the main tournament. One such event is the Omega Mode exhibition. Pitting Level|Up’s Alex Valle against Filipino Champ, and AVerMedia’s Kelvin Jeon against Pandora House’s HooDaMan.

    LETS GO

  • Joseph K. McCall

    Ryu!

  • Joseph K. McCall

    Infiltration won with Chun Li?

This has been great so far!

  • Raphaël 無駄無駄無駄

USA : the land of free !

    • ReddChief78

Saying that only makes the rest of the world look super free…except JP of course.

    • eilegz

seems that japan its the new land of the free so far

      • Raphaël 無駄無駄無駄

ahah, I like the trolls like you dude !
Thanks for the smile on my face now 🙂

        • eilegz

happy to get it wrong 😀

      • SomeGuy

Yeah, its not like one their players won the thing- wait….

    • Bob Smith

      Much akin to your mother.

    • Garrett Jones

      In a ft2 ?
      Yeah, of course…

  • So they couldn’t do 3/5 matches but they could do a guy playing music off his Ipad for 15+ minutes

    • gigantor21

But that hopping and finger twirling, though…

    • himura

      lol!!!

    • ReddChief78

That extra game or 2 would of been 15+ minutes just for 1 set…..you do the math.

      • abcdefgqwerty

Yeah but some matches might be 3-0 which saves time. Also the band was on for a while too so there is a lot more time spent in other spots that they could remove to free up more time

  • himura

and here i am, one hour away from it and not able to go…FML

  • eilegz

so daigo got exposed, i really knew that whats going to happen but i never expected that xian counter pick

    • Raphaël 無駄無駄無駄

      Exposed ? In a ft2 ?
      Yeah, of course…

      • eilegz

you know getting counter picked and got bodied its ok but then losing to rog when it almost won its an epic choke as much as i wanted daigo to win

        • The Real Clayton Bigsby

Says the guy with small PP and sodium in his blood..

    • SomeGuy

Exposed…. Just a week ago he dominated Topanga. People need to stop assuming Daigo is “exposed”, his lores more than prove he is forever cemented as a legend.

On another note, I knew people shouldn’t have overlooked Momochi. He is just about going to take it.

      • Ren

In FT2 or FT3, I was looking forward to a Momochi Daigo match. But alas Daigo got out played/picked. No excuses as it could go the other way and no one forbids Daigo to counter pick Xian Dhalsim after 1st round. And for Rog matches it’s really close, but Rog win by strategy that works with in tournament format, that’s also part of the game. I think Daigo played a bit too cautious on both matches that ended up losing to something like red focus at the end(which is an awesome read by Rog).

Also it’s time for Daigo to study the Dhalsim match for sure, yes it’s only 1 out of 44 characters, but it seems that every tournament when he vs Dhalsim he lose. ( Champ and Xian are good players too. ) Now that E. Ryu gets the health nerf, he would need to play even more decisively.

    • abcdefgqwerty

Yeah he lost two best of 3 sets by a few hits in each one. Not exactly what I call getting exposed but everyone thinks differently
If they played the whole thing again I would still bet on daigo

  • Octavius Williams

    I cant watch:(

  • SomeGuy

I was so right in Picking Momochi to take it. Dude is legit. But you all know what’s going to happen now, Capcom will be doing the nerf bat.

    • Nael

Don’t be so sure of that. Luffy won Evo and Rose actually got a buff and no nerfs in 1.04.

  • QQ Umehara fanboys

    • SomeGuy

      Oh shut up.

  • baditch
    • Bob Smith

      There is no drama though.

  • Jeremy

I’m more surprised that dhalsim is STILL daigo’s demon right now at this stage of Street Fighter in general. It’s been his demon character all the way back to ST. and there IS a top Dhalsim player in japan, so i’m real surprised he hasn’t made a gameplan yet for that character.

  • Jack Feuchtinger

Oh how the mighty have fallen…
Might be time for Wong and Umehara to pass the torch permanently.

    • Steven

      Shiiit…..Not after that 500K announcement.

    • Bob Smith

If Justin plans to keep using his garbage character then he might as well. I know he can always get a top 8 here in the U.S. with him, and I know people will say “hurr durr Rufus is high tier”, but let’s see it already. Let’s see Justin win a tournament against against Japan’s best. Because it’s been a long fucking time since I’ve seen it.

      • Jack Feuchtinger

I would have believed he could do that with Vanilla SFIV Rufus. Maybe even prepatched Super.
But you’re right. He’s fallen a long ways.

Especially with this next big tournament, with an unprecedented and insanely high prize pot, he needs to do as Japan does and play safe. You bet your ass his competition will.

        • Angry Joshua

I think justin has just been focusing more on Marvel

  • BlackClouds

How much of cut of that winning purse does EG get? That’s a large part of how they make money after all.

  • Kingkarl12341

Kinda wish this was run differently just 1 top 16 is kinda wack. You have all these top players their for the day why not make a show of it. What if you had I top 16 by points, a next top 16 randomised. A top 8 based on the placings of those two top 16s it would be a battle royal and would be way cooler

    • Bob Smith

Yeah and sports leagues should let every team into the post-season.

  • eyoh_Ajax

Xian and Infiltration’s multiple character display was really impressive.

  • pootnannies

damn i was rooting for Bonchan but he did terrible 🙁

  • Luffy’s reign has ended.

  • BB_Hoody

1st place winner just made the average American’s annual sallary in a day by winning a fighting videogame competition. And come Street Fighter 5 that prize pool becomes 500K. First place will take 300K, 2nd place 150K and third 50K. All from playing a videogame. That’s just incredible.
