It’s been a long time coming, but the day is finally here: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax can now be purchased and enjoyed by fans in North America! While the title has been available in Japan for quite some time as Persona 4 The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, today is definitely a special occasion for folks who didn’t have the additional funds to import.

In addition to the variety of gameplay changes and cast additions, Ultimax has a couple pieces of content you all may want to grab in the near future. Tohru Adachi and Marie, newcomers who first appeared in Persona 4 and Persona 4 Golden respectively, can be downloaded free of charge starting today. They will remain as such until October 7, after which they will be available to purchase for $4.99 each, so be sure to take advantage of this offer soon!

October 7 also marks the date Ultimax’s third downloadable character, Margaret, is scheduled to release. A full look at the pricing for the title’s other additional content can be found here.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, though the latter is missing a few of the features of the former.

IIRC, for PSN, you don’t have to own a game to get the DLC for it. So even if you’re on the fence about getting P4U, you might as well get the free characters.

My digital copy and many came corrupted i dont recommend downloading it yet. DLCs are fine though

It is a shame that you’re doing a better work than SRK, or more important, than Sony, or Atlus by addressing this issue.

    • Dr. Claw

There really needs to be a place where you can make formal complaints. If you offer your game for download on PSN, you might want to make sure people who pre-ordered can actually play it.

Wish they wouldn’t have removed the dual language support.

    • Dr. Claw

Say it again. If you bring this up, you’re met with rounds of “durrrr…. you can’t understand it anyway”. Bullshit. The JP version of this game has the English voices in menus, in idle sections, and in story as well as battle (this can be confirmed on Youtube), only the game text is in Japanese. All Atlus had to do was provide English text for the main game. Instead, they lock it out.

I’d feel better about it if I could get this feature in DLC (and I’d even pay for it), but from my perspective I shouldn’t have to. I would have honestly purchased the Japanese version if I knew they were going to do this beforehand.

        It again.

Seriously, as much as I would hate the precedent that it would cause, at this point I would pay for dual language support as DLC, since I can’t expect anything better from Atlus.

I believe they wanted to avoid the region lock problems of the first game, though I disagree with the reasoning and final decision they made. A little transparency from Atlus BEFORE people bought the game would have been really nice.

I ran into a guy using Margaret already. What’s up with that?

    • Dr. Claw

JP version already has Margaret available as DLC, you might have run into someone with the import.
