Here some interesting news for those who are wondering about what fighting game may be coming to us in the future. Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono recently tweeted that they were looking for new staff to work together with them and Dimps on a new fighting game.

As many of you may already know, Dimps worked with Capcom on a variety of projects previously, which helped create Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter x Tekken. Before that, their talents were put to use as the sole developers behind the Rumble Fish franchise.

The announcement links to a special recruitment page, in which very vague, sparse details about the project are shared.

At this point, very little is known about Capcom’s future involvement in the fighting game genre, but it appears as if they are planning on keeping the help of Dimps a consistent factor moving forward. Be sure to let us know what you think of this news in the comments.

D3v has worn many hats within the general fighting game community. The self proclaimed "Asian white boy" from the Philippines has done everything from arcade stick modification to match commentary. When not writing for Shoryuken's front page, D3v spends part of his time running tournaments in the Philippines, including the country's biggest fighting game event, Manila Cup.

Great. Now Ono gets to troll us for the next year and a half.

    • gigantor21

You say that like he needed an excuse. :p

  • Skudd Stevens

Too bad they didn’t collaborate with Dimps on their current game.

  • Taj DeShawn Fletcher

A new; Tech Romancer, Powerstone, Dark Stalkers or Rival Schools please!

    • Raymond

      I vote for powerstone.

    • Shinzantetsu

Project justice was dope, maybe bring out another one like it!

    • Drago Umeharevich

yes, franchises even more obscure than Dark Stalkers please

    • Bushin_Cat

Thumbs up for Rival Schools 3

      • Cee Mcneil

Lmao and i just recently played PJ On my dreamcast emu :p

    • Dweezil

      No, maybe, hell no, and…no.

  • Mark Wins

It said a new fighting game. Not a new IP or an old IP.
If you’re in that hope for either of those, I wouldn’t get the hopes too high at this point.

    • Alex Gibson

So it’s not going to be a new or existing IP? What?

      • Christopher Neil Pollard

hes saying its not certain which it is.

      • Mark Wins

it could just be SF5. If you’re hoping for a new Darkstalkers or a new Power Stone or a new Rival Schools, don’t get too hyped. If you’re hoping for something new altogether, don’t get hyped. I don’t know for sure, obviously, but it could just be SF5, which might not be what you want.

    • Chaka_

i really don’t understand what point your trying to make.

      • Mark Wins

oh ok yeah that makes sense. I think it was a while back that they said they wouldn’t start working on a new street fighter until 2018.Whether they stick to that or not , its way too soon for a new sf and capcom should know that.

  • WlNBACK

And I was just thinking “We need an announcement on the front page of a new shitty fighting game on the horizon”…

    Ono delivers, as usual.
See you all at the routine front page hype.

    • Korey Mueller

Considering your name, you’re no stranger to shitty games that made front pages on their respective sites.

    • UYG|CrimzonWolf777

Winback is at it again haha

    • CapnWTF

I think it’s awesome that people vote up your comments out of irony.

  • Gojira Twit

That’s great! I like fighting games

    • Shinzantetsu

      I like stuff

    • Dweezil

I like ones that aren’t shitty games, and they aren’t made by shitty companies like Capcom.

  • DaBrutishOne

    Bring Back Evil Zone!!!

  • Nicholas Quin Harris

As long as its not like Scrub Fighter 4 in any way I’m ok.

  • AS|SDR|Hellpockets

Oh Good Dragon Ball Xenoverse must be done.

  • peter her

This collaboration proves that they be outta money.

    • Kaihedgie

      How?

      • Sincerely, The Jerk

I don’t think it does either but for the sake of his point I’ll use CVS as an example. Capcom developed it and got most of the money from it even though SNK lent it’s licenses.

      • peter her

Do you think capcom has any more financial backing to make any more games. I mean they spent their monster hunter money on the mobile market. Even deep throat grunt I mean deep down is a free to play maybe ps4 exclusive. So know your facts before you start questioning people.

        • Kaihedgie

All I did was ask you a simple question and that is how you respond? Sheesh

Monster Hunter is selling on consoles and handhelds as well. Resident Evil Revelations 2 was just announced for the current-gen consoles, and there’s the HD Remaster of the first game which now has a Japanese voice track, so no.

Also, this collaboration effort was Ono’s choice. Collaborations don’t mean that either company is losing money or anything. These things happen regardless of circumstances

          • peter her

But these aren’t new ips. Yeah they’re selling monster hunter handhelds as well as console, but they they’re using that money to bank on the mobile market. Google it.

          • Kaihedgie

And so what if they aren’t new IPs?

Even so, you’re quite quick the jump the gun and assume that this is some indicator that they’re all out of money.

Or did you believe that Square was on the verge of bankruptcy when they made Kingdom Hearts with Disney despite the success of FFX?

This is really not the first time Capcom has collaborated with anyone or had someone create a game for them. They’ve worked with Inti Creates, Bandai and Sega, among other companies before this particular project.

Something that makes a little more sense, is all I’m asking. Your original comment just comes off across as bitterness, really

          • peter her

Thats just squares fault on xiii tanking. As well as their not up to par sails for their western games. Look we can go on forever about this topic but at the end of the year its going to look like capcom is only going to get one game release and you already know what it is.

          • Kaihedgie

            I…what

            Do you

            What

Kingdom Hearts has been around since 2002. X was out the year before that. XIII didn’t come out till ’10.

    • Drago Umeharevich

are you aware DIMPS made vanilla SF4 and Super?

      • peter her

Yeah im aware but you do know that their shareholders took over the company meaning that they are limited to what they can do.

  • TiredOcean

I get the feeling it may be a new Darkstalkers game, because of all that “Darkstalkers is not dead” hype Ono was trying to drum up. However I think Capcom said something along the lines that Darkstalkers Resurrection didn’t sell enough to warrant more investment in the series, so I wouldn’t bet on it.

  • MasterChibi

What has Capcom actually done on their own though? Didn’t Dimps do all of SF4? I mean shit even the anniversary announcement was a fan game. ‘Collaborating’ they said haha.

    • d3v

Yeah, but isn’t outsourcing to developers the norm these days?

      • I_made_this_account_to_post_th

It’s a norm only for Capcom

        • Kaihedgie

Sega, Nintendo, Bandai and Namco have done outsourcing before, so no

          • I_made_this_account_to_post_th

They’ve done some outsourcing but ones that made sense and weren’t for their biggest franchises. Capcom just gives their popular IPs to random developers, they killed DMC, Lost Planet, SF and Marvel this way.

          • Glottis

            Nintendo:

            Metroid – Retro Studios
            Zelda – Capcom
            Kid Icarus – Sora
Varios Mario Offshoots – Camelot, Alpha Dream etc
            Star Fox – Namco
            F Zero – Sega

They’ve outsourced basically all big and semi big franchises at one point or another. The only one they haven’t done that with to my recollection is mainline Mario titles.
And this list doesn’t even take into account those weird Phillips games in the 90’s

          • Jr Junior

            Mario’s Time Machine

        • Chaka_

It happens more often than you think. its just the lesser known developer isn’t mentioned majority of the time. Off the top of my head La noire was a collab and so was far cry 3. I think call of duty has hired other studios as well.

          • Well the Call of Duty franchise is a glorious clusterfuck. Technically, as of right now three different studios (Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games) develop titles for it, published through the Activision side of Activision-Blizzard.

  • RunningWild1984

    Rumble Fish 3

    • Cesar Diego

      Salmon DLC confirmed

  • Bushin_Cat

Nope, sorry….this article is false, and the picture is even a fake. Look closely and you’ll see: Ono is NOT holding a Blanka figure!

  • BARDOCK7

I wish it would be a new 2.5D SAMURAI SHODOWN or a 3D fighting BLEACH game!!!
    I’m gonna continue dreaming!

    • ReddChief78

You bet you’re dreaming neither of those 2 games are owned by Capcom.

    • Dweezil

Let Samurai Shodown die. 3-6 (except 4 and 5 Special because they were okay), those 2 god-awful 3d games no one wants to remember, and Sen were already bad enough,

    • Victor Thammavong

Samurai Shodown is SNK, LMAO. I bought Sen the first day it came out; worst fighting game I’ve ever played on the Xbox 360. I’d rather play Deadliest Warrior. But an actual Bleach fighting game; we can only dream. A bunch of Bleach fighting games already exist for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable but if you want a legit one I’d highly recommend the Blade of Fate / Dark Souls for the Nintendo DS as they play like an actual anime fighter, plus it has online and single-cart multiplayer. It’s godlike. Would love to see that title remade on console.

  • Jake_Indiman

As long as they don’t nickle and dime us again on game breaking factors, like pay to unlock characters, and stat changing gems. I am good to go.

  • ReoAyanami

I remember a time before USF4 when people were asking Capcom to do their development in house. Now, people are glad that Capcom is outsourcing their development again. How fast opinions change.

  • Dweezil

Can’t wait for this new train wreck. I mean, it can’t be worst than trashy games like Ultra SF4 or SFxT, right?

  • Felipe Pereira

Okay ONO, here is what I want:
    Capcom Super Stars Battle Royale
200 Characters from all your franchises
Parry, Alpha Counter, Focus/Red Focus, Supers, Ultras, and everything else every game ever had, select-able by grooves.
You have 2 months to get it done.
Oh yeah, I want both 3D models and 2D sprites (that I can choose from)

  • Raiden365

Capcom needs to sit down and have that talk over a beer with SNKP about the most requested sequel in the FGC.
