SNK Playmore Updates Job Listings, May Actually Be Teasing a Fighting Game This Time

To say SNK Playmore’s last few announcements were a little underwhelming would be putting it lightly, at least from a fighting game community perspective. Back in May 2013, the company posted official job listings for new King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown titles, a move that obviously caught the attention of series fans. These expectations were raised even further when new 3D renders of characters from both franchises appeared last November.

Unfortunately (again, from the point of view of a fighting game player), these teases ended up being in preparation for two new pachinko games based off the properties. While they did provide some stylish cinematics, they were ultimately meaningless for the legions of competitive players looking forward to new titles to duke it out in.

That being said, SNK’s employment page was recently updated, and this time around it’s looking like they may actually be hinting at a new fighting game.

According to MM Cafe’s Professor, the new banner (seen above) states that development on a new King of Fighters is currently underway, and the company is looking for new programmers, tech designers, and CG designers to “change the history of fighting games.”

The job listings themselves ask that applicants have experience with both new platforms like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as their predecessors.

While it would be very smart to keep hopes in check this time around, this is definitely an item to keep your eye on if you’re interested in seeing something new from the King of Fighters series.
