With Gamescom 2014 right around the corner, fans are eagerly awaiting what Mortal Kombat X news the folks over at NetherRealm Studios have in store for the annual German convention. But even with the event so close, we may have received our first glimpse of their announcement courtesy of GamePro magazine.

Two images recently surfaced that possibly point to Kano as the latest character to be revealed for the upcoming fighter. A ruthless member of the Black Dragon clan, this mercenary appears to be wearing an outfit similar Hsu Hao, who first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance as part of the rival Red Dragon organization.

What this means for the game’s story and how Kano will play has yet to be revealed, so stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks if this rumor turns out to be the real deal.

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC sometime in 2015.
