  • Los Illuminados – Vote Trump!

while i am disappointed in this year EVO stream schedule for KOF, i am glad to hear that EVO staff/streamers might do something about the stream schedule for KOF after all and stream pools on saturday before the final. it’s bad enough and a slap in the face for a game like KOF not to have finals on sunday, but not to stream no pools action at all is absurd. KOF has been the Hypest game at EVO 2 years in a row and SNK Playmore Corporation is officially sponsor of EVO 2014. no matter if this year KOF has lower entries it was not the lowest one of them all. now that i think about it. it’s not so bad having KOF finals on sat. this time. heh. as fate has it, on sun. it will be FIFA World Cup 2014 finals. as a football fan and a event that happens ever 4 years is not to be missed.

side note: Good luck to all the KOF players. Lionel Messi is the best in the world right now. this world cup of 2014 is yours Leo Messi. Go and Win it!!! Get that title!!!

    • Emilkof

Kof has been pretty hype but to say it is the most hype game at Evo for the past two years is an overexaggeration.

It should be streamed because there are many players worldwide that are interested in kof and it is going to be hype, that’s all.

    • ReddChief78

You do know SF4 & Marvel is always streamed last right, you must of missed that and the only thing that was hype was KoF grand finals ONE match.

1)Qhat kind of movie is this ‘Matador’ they’re screening on Sat?
2)Where the HELL is DOA5U and VF5? *They deserve at least exhibition matches*

[Personal note: as a fan of KOF, last night i *TRIED* to watch that live action KOF movie…couldn’t get past Rugal pulling out the SMG ;( ]

    • peter her

Where are their communities at i know sega had a cup at super arcade in california and Team ninja on occasion support their fighting game by giving stream providers some moolah but thats about all i know about those communities.

    • ReddChief78

They’re 3D fighters be happy they finally decided to put TTT2 in, you want those games there then do it yourself like others have with other games with side tournaments.

    • d3v

DOA5U has an official side tournament.

  • evilsmilelol

    I just Join.,did Xian played already?…

  • Why is the capcomfighters stream rebroadcasting pools from earlier in the day, instead of showing the LIVE matches going on around it for USF4 Quarter and Semi finals? I’m mind fucked by that decision. So many good matches are being missed.

    • xanderglz

totally agreed. It gets worse once you take into consideration that they got two streams available, one of them being capcom’s VERY OWN STREAM. Yet only used the main stage mostly for the winners matches. Nevermind that this is supposed to be capcom’s main game they hold all the rights for, yet MARVEL OF ALL GAMES, a title which has neither full support nor license rights, got TWO streams to cover both sides of the tourney on sat. night.

I know the staff runs things pretty smooth for all people in site, but come on, if they’re going all the way to make the event look like a legit esport, they could at least try to get better in that aspect

(and yet with those strange streaming choices and changes, EVO is running 100x better than MLG with all that money and shit)

      • toooitchy

That’s because EVO is still being run by people heavily invested in the community from the ground up, who spend a lot of time talking with the average person either in the forums or at all the majors where they are always communicating with all the major T.O.’s, collaborating ideas and what not, while MLG is being handled by more corporate based parties that aren’t even close to as self aware about what their audience wants as the FGC T.O.’s are. MLG is more focused on big sponsors and spectacle while the Evo guys are interested in expanding the community through the tournaments. MLG may have the bigger games in LoL, Starcraft, and CoD, but it feels like it gets further away from the average gamer every year, while Evo is growing much faster and somehow staying centered around the community, and the avg. player doesn’t feel excluded from the pro scene, as it’s easy for anyone to sign up regardless of skill.

As far as the stream shortcomings this year, I’m with you, it wasn’t great, but it wasn’t THAT bad. It felt like the streams weren’t like, working together, so at times we were left missing huge matches of USF4 while the other stream was showing smash pools, or showing 2 streams of Marvel at once, both having huge matches at the same time. Felt a little clusterfucked at times, and the KOF/BB stuff was mishandled a bit. If Evo is going to have smash, then we need 3 streams, all of them working together, as Smash takes a lot longer to get through their sets, and it just seems like a waste to have just 2 streams, one showing 2 days of nothing but Smash, and the other one bouncing between SF, Marvel, Injustice, etc.

Since SF and Marvel are the 2 “main attractions”, and take place on seperate days, the “MAIN” stream should be nothing but SF pools, up to top 8 on Friday, then nothing Marvel up to top 8 on Saturday, the 2nd stream could focus on pools for whichever game was next in popularity on either day, and so on. Evo could easily fill up 3 major streams for 2 days, and nobody would miss key matches or games they want to see. I don’t have time to try and hammer out the details of scheduling or anything like that, but Evo needs at least 3 streams, imo.

  • evilsmilelol

    No SFxT?…..lol

    • TheBlackRabbit

      really…..

    • no one plays it.

      • David

    • Dweezil

That’s how I feel about Marn. Such a creepy loser.

    • TheBlackRabbit

      you deny his skill?

  • j95lee

Anyone else experiencing significant lag in the stream?

  • Dom Bonato

I know that this year’s usf4 champion as well as the bbcp champ and a player of choice will qualify for Capcom Cup and Arc Revolution Cup respectively.

  • Shout outs to the new cycle change of top players and it pissing everyone off.

    • PJ

Noone is pissed at the cycle of new players. Everyone is pissed at whoever made the incredibly bad stream match calls on the EVO stream. Every match of note was played offstream. Who the fuck cares about winners matches… they get sent to losers. Everyone wanted to see the big name loser matches and who was fighting to stay in, which they didn’t show like MORONS.
it’s sad when the commentators and stream veiwers are more interested in what’s being reported on twitter than what’s going on in the match in front of them.

  • Felipe Pereira

    fuck i missed TOL

Analysis of the USF4 top8 and how they got there. Summed up all the SRK rank scores of their competitors on their road to top 8.

    Snake eyez 15154
    Gackt 9282
    Luffy 9112
    Momochi 6962
    Bonchan 6716
    Sako 4409
    Fuudo 3935
    Ricky Ortiz 1285

Snake Eyez did maximum damage taken out a bunch of top tournament favorites. Gackt had a tougher time than Fuudo but pulled through, and Luffy is a real Japanese slayer now.
Sako, Fuudo and Ortiz haven’t really been put to the test as much, they had easier brackets.

I REALLY don’t wanna be that guy….But NRS haters HOLD DAT SHIT!!!

We been tryna tell everyone Injustice was hype since the last patch in october, but it took EVO for people to finally pay attention. Hopefully the majority of people that thought the game was slow/clunky and bad change their opinions and give the game a second chance!

I pray next year Injustice is a main stage game along with MKX. and I hope this weekend’s showing of Injustice will get more people playing

    • I_made_this_account_to_post_th

      Injustice was boring as fuck

      • Angry Joshua

BULLSHIT! That shit was entertaining as fuck

        • ZenTzen

          nah it was pretty boring

      • David

People are allowed to enjoy it. Your opinion ain’t fact.

    • grezex29

I have to admit I was the first kind of person to say how much I disliked Injustice at EVO last year, but over the past 6 months it’s felt like an entirely different game.

  • Flundra

weird how so many of the the famous players that everybody wanted to see playing played off stream and all you heard about that was the commentators occasional news update.
“filipino champ beat daigo”, i wanted to see that..”oh and daigo has been eliminated”, eh? “infiltration has been eliminated”, what? “mike ross did well but has been eliminated”, …. “tokido has been eliminated”, was i watching the wrong stream or something? was pr balrog even in this tournament? i was watching a guy called bukkake play…. wtf.

    • randomguy101

It sucks for fans who want to watch specific players’ matches, but if you really want to watch them, go there in person. I like the idea of watching random people who enter play on stream. It gives the people who spend their time and money to be seen by the many viewers, even if you aren’t as known as other players. Everybody gets a chance of the spotlight. We already see the big names play on a regular basis in other tournaments. In any case, these heavy hitters are the favorites and should be making it far, so we should be seeing them play eventually.

As far as the big name matches (Like F Champ v. Daigo) that already happened but weren’t streamed, hopefully somebody recorded it and will be putting it up. I for one am happy for the FREE stream we already have and appreciate the fact that they aren’t heavily playing favorites as to who does or doesn’t get stream time.

      • abcdefgqwerty

That is one viewpoint. If capcom fighters was there why not have two streams at the same time showing more of the matches and people can just pick between them? For the biggest fighting game tournament of the year it doesnt seem to much too ask that other stream shows f champ daigo while that evo1 main stream shows the other one. It doesnt make much sense to have half the matches not shown

      • PJ

You can’t deny whoever was calling the stream matches made a massive fail. It was obvious they were just “we’re streaming winners” on the big stage vs the matches people actually wanted to see. As I mentioned above, losers matches are ALWAYS more hype in the semis because they are playing for their tourney life while winners matches are just getting a 2nd chance in losers shortly after.

  • doc_nice

damn japan always kicks our asses in these games lol

  • fire lion

lol no cody’s made it out of pools? Hopefully aug 8 will have a serious balance patch.

  • LockedAndClush

F*** me sideways. Justin was amazing. That fight with FChamp was just too much.

  • evilsmilelol

    YES! snakeeyes loss

  • j95lee

America and Japan, pwned by France.

I guess the decline is real.

    • I_made_this_account_to_post_th

It’s not a decline, it’s a swap. Japan now focuses on anime, for example Dogura focused on BB for this EVO instead of SF.

Wtf are you talking about? Dogura was the only one. All the other Japanse came fully prepared for SF and some like tokidoki even prepared for kof. Don’t try to belittle rose or luffy. Luffy was always strong as hell using an upper mid tier character that got buffed in ultra. Personally i would rather have seen alioune win instead of a turtle/runaway character. But fuck it ggs to luffy.

  • good job luffy 🙂

i dont think the world was ready for a gief player to take evo yet. our minds wouldn’t be able to handle it

on top of that, i’m pretty sure he also plays with a pad

        • PJ

That crappy madcatz sf pad to be exact 😀

Blazblue for me definitely takes the top spot for the hypest event for this year’s EVO hands down. Even if you’re not familiar with FG, you’d have to consider the emotion/passion in the grand finals. The comebacks and heart of galileo he put in; when you think Dogura had it… all hype… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrvY6BbiUE0

I hope it will continue it’s run until next year! Win or lose, maybe sign up for EVO too.

so sick of EX Iori and Mr. Karate

    • CasualRemy

It’s almost like the roster shrinks when the 3 EX characters are selectable. Which is always. Who’s in KOF XIII again?

Wow, pretty exciting tournament. Along with the 2nd placing of Argentina in the… you know 😉 (I guess people don’t talk about it here LOL) it’s been one pretty fun weekend for me!

KojiKOG matches were gdlk as I expected, glad to see him take it so well with the crowd, the Daigo surprise, Tokido 2nd in KOF, GAMERBEE VS. MOMOCHI, damn what a fine set!! Always a pleasure watching Mr. Bee compete… Sagat still ruling, no high places for the newcomers except for sako, snakeeyez, wow, such nerve haha…

And I haven’t seen BB, UMVC3 and the side tournaments yet! So much good material to nourish from… Good stuff.

The only downside to this is the lack of representation for my favourite character, Guy. At least there’s still left the exhibitions by MarQ Teddy. He’s a beast with the character and always uses most of his tools, throwing fancy combos and risky links into tight FCs leaving you wondering how can keep those unlikely options in mind all the time.

Most of the characters that won evo were female.
