In a stunning turn of events, NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon has revealed the title of the next Mortal Kombat game after leaks outed it on Amazon UK this weekend. The upcoming entry in the classic fighting game series will forgo normal numbering and instead rely on the Roman numeral X to signify it as the tenth installment.

Thankfully, that’s not all. Shortly after dropping this tiny morsel of information, the studio released a brief trailer that officially announces the game. While no actual gameplay is shown, it does hint at some of the mechanics that may appear in this new title, including interactable environments a la Injustice: Gods Among Us and the devastating x-ray moves from Mortal Kombat 9.

The trailer also confirms that we will see Mortal Kombat X sometime in 2015. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

UPDATE – According to Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat X will give players the opportunity to play as multiple versions of the each cast member, which will impact their strategy and fighting style. Boon went on to state that Mortal Kombat X will include new characters, new game modes, and an updated graphics engine.
