As the largest fighting game tournament in the world and a premier event in the Capcom Pro Tour, this year’s installment of the Evolution Championship Series is set to once again provide some of the best competition our scene is capable of. While other events on the tour are receiving sizable bonuses of their own, Capcom is prepared to drop some serious cash for Evo.
Today, it was announced that Evo 2014 will be given a bonus of $10,000 for its Ultra Street Fighter IV prize pool, raising the stakes significantly for players who do well at the major event. This boost comes in addition to the event’s exclusive tier of Capcom Pro Tour ranking points, which will no doubt effect Capcom Cup’s final bracket to a high degree come December.
Evo co-founder Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar mentioned that this prize money will be distributed throughout the top sixteen.
It was also announced that the Evo organizers will be utilizing Capcom’s ranking system to help with their own seeding process, so be sure to attend as many pro tour events as possible to improve your chances in Las Vegas.
