Niconico Live Streaming Support Available on PlayStation 4 Starting April 30

With Ustream and Twitch already providing streaming capabilities on Sony’s latest video game console, Japanese video site Niconico has decided they should get in on the action as well. Support for the platform will be added to PlayStation 4 on April 30 according to an announcement made through the Play Community.

Gematsu speculates that this could be included as part of the console’s recently-announced 1.7 firmware. Fans will be able to test these tools at Nico Nico Super Conference 3, which is scheduled for April 26-27.

It’s currently unknown if this app will allow viewing as well as streaming, but a precedent has been set with an app that was released for the PlayStation Vita back in 2012. There’s also no clear word on whether or not this will be region-locked, so stay tuned for more information in the near future.
