The GG in front of Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzalez’ name is no longer temporary, as GamesterGear recently announced that they are now the player’s official sponsor.
The collaboration was always in the work. In early February, shortly after Afterglow Elite’s disbandment, Gonzalez moved to Southern California and was without a sponsor. But GamesterGear stepped in and helped with his expenses, sending him to major tournaments such as Final Round XVII and Texas Showdown 2014. The gaming apparel and gear company also sponsors fellow fighting game player Sherry “Sherry Jenix” Nhan.
“I’d like to thank GamesterGear for giving me this opportunity to play for them; they are great people to work with and great headsets that I can use in and out of gaming,” Gonzalez said on the GamesterGear website. “Hopefully I can contribute as much as I can to the team in an effort to not only grow with them, but to learn from them as well. Because they share the same vision that I have for the fighting game community, I hope that we could build and improve the community together.”
