As of today, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate’s first downloadable character, Marie Rose, is now available on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In anticipation of her arrival, Team NINJA released a trailer earlier this month to show off what she is capable of.

In addition to Marie Rose, the game has also been updated to version 1.05, which brings with it balance changes and a non-Halloween version of the classic Lorelei stage.

Marie Rose is available to download for only $5.99 over on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace. Check her out and let us know what you think.

D3v has worn many hats within the general fighting game community. The self proclaimed "Asian white boy" from the Philippines has done everything from arcade stick modification to match commentary. When not writing for Shoryuken's front page, D3v spends part of his time running tournaments in the Philippines, including the country's biggest fighting game event, Manila Cup.

6$ holy crap, and I thought Capcom where bad, 6$ for a Loli that no one asked for, TN really is lost a this point and losing their touch with the only 2 games they make.

  • RunningWild1984

Are they gonna charge 6 bucks for Assassins Creed Kasumi as well?

    • Jule

Could be worse.. they could be beating the dead horse. Er wait Capcom is already doing that with USF4 and Russian Cammy.

  • PJ

And here I thought she was gonna be free with the update. Silly me. Nvm then.

    • Death Metal

Not to blame. They said new characters were going to be free before. What a disappointment.

Well, off to download to new fighter! #shameonself

    • doubleO7

The “free with update” rumor came from a mistranslation of a Famitsu article. For a while a bunch of people over at FSD thought she’d be free, but it turns out the free part was just in reference to the patch itself.

      • Death Metal

Is that true? Would make more sense, then. Thanks for the clarification!

  • Alex Steve Giménez

Wai-WHAT!? Wasn’t Team Ninja themselves the ones who mentioned in interviews if they ever put new DLC characters in the game they were going to be free?

    • Henry Zurawski

I thought that was Harada when talking about Tekken. Maybe Team Ninja said the same thing, but I do know Harada mentioned that about Tekken.

    • Yan Zhao

They did, and now they are going back on their words, which is a shame. This is not the stuff you do with no repercussion from your fans/audience, justified or not.

      • Steven

        I thought they did…dang

    • Gojira Twit

All I remember is that they said they would never have DLC characters at all.

    • doubleO7

A lot can change in 2 years. It’s also not cheap to make fighting game characters, so this course of action doesn’t really surprise me. At least she’s not way overpriced.

  • juggernaut1981

Awwww for shame, it looks like you’ll actually have to pay for your kiddy porn.

Anyone else not disgusted that this chick who doesn’t look a day over 12 is such an anticipated addition to soft porn Mcfighting game. Not to say DOA isn’t solid…this version anyway.

It can’t just be me. Is there anyone with younger sisters or daughters, like I’ve got, and doesn’t see this as disgusting as hell?

    • Michael Scofield

      Japan bro japan …

    • Alex Steve Giménez

I’ve got 3 young nieces and no, there’s nothing disgusting about the character or her design, I just see a young woman dressed as a goth lolita which is popular in japanese pop culture. While many people play the game for the fanservice I mainly play it beacause is a great game that contrary to what the american FGC may say deserves to be played. Also, take in consideration that this game mainly caters to a japanese audience (and to that extension, Otakus) who enjoy this kind of fanservice.

    • PJ

      It’s just you.

    • Yan Zhao

Things like this are common in Japan. Difference in culture bro.

    • Death Metal

I will assume this was a joke post.

    • Vocaloid 00

She doesn’t look THAT young. She looks 18 to be honest.

Not even worth the troll. Peace.

  • Redblaze27

Last I had heard she was free, so why is she $5.99?
That’s also considerably more expensive than the other DOA5U cast and more than other fighting game DLC characters.

    • doubleO7

That was a rumor that turned out not to be true. The Core Fighters characters are $4, so she’s not “considerably” more expensive.

  • ThunderGod_Cid

Wow….a new character that’s not a reskin of a previous character.
    Capcom take note.

    • PJ

I guess you haven’t seen the one coming after this one then? 😀
And at least Capcom doesn’t charge $6 each for theirs, specially after saying it would be free to begin with.

  • zedk8

On the US PSN store, it said something about Marie Rose add-on: ”

This may be offer as a free trial for a limited time in the future”.

I think she will be playable for those who have the Core Fighters version, since the free version rotates the characters. Only time will tell.

    • PJ

That makes wonderful sense. The people who play for free get to use her for free, and the people who actually bought the game have to pay even more to use her. Yep.. makes perfect sense.

I see a Shunpuukyaku at 0.32 and a Sakura Otoshi at 1:00. Didn’t know this new character was actually Sakura.

  • Longshadow

I see a Shunpuukyaku at 0:32 and a Sakura Otoshi at 1:00. Didn’t know this new character was actually Sakura.

    • Death Metal

You’ll be surprised then as she plays nothing like Sakura, not even near.

      • Longshadow

You mean she doesn’t have a qcf.P projectile?

        • Death Metal

I dunno, let me call yo momma and ask.

  • leingod

I’ll buy her when she’s available for the Vita version. So I guess… never :/
