After a lengthy promotional campaign, Sega’s crossover fighter Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX has been officially released in Japanese arcades. Created by Ecole Software and French-Bread, the developers behind Melty Blood and Under Night In-Birth, FIGHTING CLIMAX pulls its extensive cast from a wide array of popular light novels, including Sword Art Online, Accel World, Durarara!!, and more.

While some of the source material may be a little obscure for audiences outside of Japan, this gives the title some unique flair and a diverse cast that features characters from series that aren’t very combat-heavy. Among others, the roster includes Ro-Kyu-Bu!’s Tomoka Minato, whose attacks revolve around basketball plays; Kirino Kosaka of Oreimo fame, who incorporates cosplay and other outfits in her moveset; and Spice and Wolf’s Horo, a support character that lends a hand by providing a field of healing.

The game also features some Sega flair in the form Virtua Fighter’s Akira Yuki and Pai Chan, who act as the title’s bosses, as well as stages pulled from Valkyria Chronicles and Sonic the Hedgehog.

But why read about the gameplay when you can watch it? Below, you’ll find a handful of new videos courtesy of Dengeki Online that highlight a number of the playable and support characters in action.

Sega has also expressed interest in releasing FIGHTING CLIMAX on home consoles, but specifics have yet to be divulged.
