Fans of the original Killer Instinct will recall that the game’s soundtrack was so good that it saw its own CD release, Killer Cuts, during an age where video game soundtracks didn’t usually get this kind of treatment. Rare would go on to provide a similar compilation for the title’s sequel. Now, it seems like the soundtrack for the rebooted Killer Instinct on Xbox One is going to get the same treatment.

In a surprise announcement via the chat on Maximilian’s Twitch channel, composer Mick Gordon has stated that a new Killer Cuts album for KI is coming by the end of March. This was further confirmed on Twitter when Gordon replied to a tweet asking about the news.

Gordon then went on to ask fans for suggestions on what they would like to see included in the soundtrack.

So, what do you think? Are you looking forward to a new Killer Cuts? Does the music in the most recent Killer Instinct live up to its predecessors? Let us know in the comments.

What do you mean it was so good it got a soundtrack CD? Every game gets a soundtrack CD. It’s just most of the time you have to import them and pay $40.

    • Logan Via

It was really rare back in the day. Outside of a few FF and Castlevania CDs, nothing was really released.

  • Garland Steele

    Give us, us CD!

  • Yan Zhao

Would be more awesome if they rearranged most of KI2/KI Gold’s track, those were my favorite.

  • Gojira Twit

Okay, I like the music in the new KI for sure, but I’m a little confused about what he’s asking for. Suggestions? Do all of the music. On the album. Go. *shrug*

    • Candle Ja

      My guess is stuff like:

“I want tracks for just the idle mixes”

  • The Killer Instinct songs have a bunch of different transitions, so this could be interesting. There are parts of the song that only play in very specific situations in a match, not to mention the hidden tracks that play if you let the game idle for too long. I’m definitely gonna pick it up.

Hey look! That’s me! ….And to the editor…You spelt my 1st name wrong in the tags…

  • JnKzm

    Easy.

Please do a complete Remake of the Original Killer Instinct 1 songs please. KI1 still to this very day the greatest soundtrack out of any Killer instinct game period.

I would really like to hear how Orchids KI1 theme would sound like in the modern current placing and things like that.

That to me would be the true Ultimate Killer Cuts.

So did the soundtrack ever come out
